Update: Can this outfit be saved - sort of!

Hi everyone!

Many thanks for the great advice!

1) the daisy lace jacket:

First - as soon as I got home, I tried on the outfit Tiffany Rose suggested for the daisy lace jacket and voila - I think it saves it!  I do not have a dress in this colour, but will keep my eye out as per FFM's advice!

The lighting wasn't great but I have paired it with straight leg jeans and my button down shirt - so much better!!!  Now Bill and I will always have the jacket...

2) The Poppy Red Peacoat

The coat - I am waffling on the coat!  I am going to find a lovely wool scarf in an appropriate colour way and see what I think. If not, off it will go!

Finally, what I wore to work todat, which was was a better version of the outfit I wore last week - the navy cafe capris again, but this time, dressed up:

I have paired them with the Factory cotton blazer in natural (which was a really good buy and which I find flattering) with the naomi polka dot blouse, the capris and nine west pumps.  So much better!

I must say I truly love these capris, I am contemplating the ivory and need to make a decision on them soon before they all sell out.  They are so versatile - they look elegant dressed up and can be very casual....

have a wonderful evening!!!

  1. That jacket is lovely on you - glad you found a way to keep it :) A crisp white jacket in summer looks so very chic!

    1. Ha! You're giving me too much credit but I agree, you look wonderful. Those straight leg jeans, get some back-ups pronto! They make your legs a mile long and you're not even wearing heels with them. I've been considering doing a top 10 or 12 must-haves and dark, trouser-ish jeans is one item for certain.

  3. I really love both of these looks on you, WMM! You look understated, elegant, and effortlessly chic! You are going to give Olivia Palermo a run for her money! :)

The ivory eyelet capris are very pretty! I know you love the navy pair, so if you think you will love and wear the ivory pair just as much, then you should get them.

I hope you don't mind me being so candid in your post about the peacoat. I know you are looking for us to help you make decisions on the questionable items, so I think that each item deserves our honest opinions about whether it should stay or go. :)

  4. Thanks FFM!

I wouldn't describe the outfits as "effortlessly" chic, as I got some help from my friends! But I am getting there!

I love the honest feedback - it is so helpful! Plus I ascribe to the old adage "don't ask a question you don't want the answer to!"

I agree - it is so helpful to have advice from great friends to me on the straight and narrow!

    1. Well, at least they look effortless, and I'm sure that even Olivia gets help sometimes. :-)

  5. This outfit is perfection. So classic and will see many seasons. I have 2 of J.crew pea coats and wear them all winter. From my experience if you're on the fence you probably won't wear it. One of mine is navy and I don't think the lapels are as noticeable as yours. Would an infinity scarf in chevron break it up.

    1. Thanks Marsha! I will try a couple of things with the pea coat but I do think it may be moving on. I think the lapels may be too large for a small person like me who does not have broad shoulders!

  6. Yes Tiffany is right on the money with those jeans, I think you look better proportionately when you lengthen your legs out and don't cut your torso in half. so short jackets but with pencil skirts just below the knee, longer line trousers etc and more blended colours between your top half and bottom half.
