Friday Wrap Up

Well, we have made it to another Friday - you know what that means - the virtual miller time at Dani's.

When I arrived home today, there was  package waiting for me on the dining room table:

A UPS Express envelope from New York City.

It was like an episode of the beverly hillbillies.  We all gathered around and said "Wendy got a package from New York City!"

I opened the package and saw:

A note, a gift card and the latest catalogue.

The note was very sweet and much apprectiated.  The gift card was a nice surprise.

Oh Micky, you know how to woo a girl.......I have offered to be their one woman advisory board if they are looking for a middle aged size 6-8 woman from a small obscure canadian province.  I am very hopeful!

More later!  Meanwhile, I am passing you each a plate with some nice brie and grapes and a bit of chardonnay.  I imagine Dani is breaking out some more food and the Miller for those who don't prefer wine!  Cheers!

    1. I know. I am about three drinks away at any one time from becoming Elizabeth Taylor in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf"!

Am having major crisis here - Kate spade has 30% off - station wagon purse or I married adventure clutch? Neither practical. But the heart wants what it wants...

    2. I'd love one of those book clutches, frivolous but fabulous. Follow your heart!

    3. I broke down and ordered the book clutch - I have oggled it for at least two years and I think it will have more staying power than the station wagon. I also ordered the Great Gatsby one for my daughter for a Christmas gift. She is an english major at university and I know she will love it!

    6. I believe that in civilized society, no one should have to wait for their cocktail...

    1. Oh we really were like Granny, Jed and Ellie May. We all oggled the envelope "Oh Mickey had sent something... What will it be...." etc. Quite pathetic actually..

  5. Miller Time - how fun. I'll bring some of the hard stuff and fresh bruchetta that I'm whipping up this afternoon. We have a large family function tomorrow - a remembrance for my husband's G'ma who passed a few weeks ago at the age of 98. I'm going to have to pace myself in the cocktail department as the teetotalers will be in town for the weekend.
How lovely that you have some J Crew mad money to spend. The KS F&F is calling my name...(hands over ears-eyes closed-trying to avoid temptation).

    1. Julie, good idea on the bruschetta! I am hoping someone in the crowd will bring along some cheese. I plan to bring along an 80s mixed tape and my portable disco ball. Sure we'll be sitting on the porch, but a dance party can break out anywhere!

Hold firm on the KS! I last 3 minutes. I saw it on Gigi's site and went right there. The only dithering was which clutch. I keep looking for a sign to go back and get the station wagon one. have decided if I see a real old-fashioned in the next day that will be my sign. Haven't seen one around here for ages...

    2. I'll bring the cheese, and absolutely LOVE 80s music, so I'm up for some dancing! :)

  7. So nice of them to send you a gift card, WMM! Have you decided what you're going to spend it on? Perhaps you could use it to get that Collection shell you have your eye on. :)

    1. Oh FFM! There is going to be a post on this. I need some sartorial advice! I have a few things I am looking at!!!

  8. Wow ! That's so nice of a response

  9. Well that was a nice response from Mickey & Brittany. I am sure they appreciated your good-natured and pictorial constructive criticism :-) That skirt really is so different than pictured, I hope they do something about that. It is ironic that the coat on the front of the new catalog, on the right, is (I believe) the Slim Trench in Caribbean Pink, and it looks nothing like the real-life color, sigh!

  10. Cate - you are so right! His assistant said that Mickey did raise it to the team. It is fine if you live near a store and can see, but it is hard for me and costs a bundle!

    1. And even if you do live near a store (and I do), ours don't carry any Collection items. J. Crew is very careful about not sending high-end merchandise to stores that they think cannot sell it. It is nice to be able to return at the store, but I would never have seen this skirt in our stores. They ought to provide free returns for anyone who doesn't live near a store.
