Bubble Necklace is everywhere!

I have not drunk the crewlade on the bubble necklace.

Bubble necklace
Oh it's not that I don't like it.  No, it's just that it is kind of expensive for a piece of costume jewellry that I like, but do not love.

I know there has been some great discussions about the knockoffs on ebay.  Again, I let those be, too, since I was not all that keen.

But last week, whilst in line at one of our local shops, I spied a bubble necklace knockoff in a divine shade of green with matching earrings.  Since I had just picked up the Joe Fresh black shift, I imagined this green beauty nestled against it.  Oh, did I say it was $35?  Yup.

Now I am sure that it is not as nice as the bubble, but I am good with my knockoff, but think it so funny that these necklaces are now everywhere!

Me in the shift with the necklace.  I am wearing Cole Haan Air Tali ballet wedge heels, which are VERY comfy.  You can buy yours here.

And a close up of the necklace:

From this angle, you don't get a sense of all the dangly bits.  As a digression, my grandmother used this term later in life to describe all of things on her body that weren't well, firm, anymore.

Back on topic - you can see it's not exactly the same as the bubble, but it is clear to me that it is a kissin' cousin...  and I got plenty of positive comments, so people are obviously loving the bubble!

Have a wonderful day and stay safe out there!

  1. I like the new dress and necklace. I am not a "bubble" girl, but I like the bright green with the black dress very much. As far as the "Air Tali" goes, I bought them last year, thinking they would be the perfect shoe, but they are not as comfortable as I had hoped. I always feel like my foot is sliding forward just a little bit, and that I have to grip to keep them on. I still think they are one of the cutest pair of shoes I have, and I do wear them often. Just not when I have to do a lot of walking.

    1. Hey Knityarns! I hear you on the tali. I sized down 1/2 a size for the reason and am glad I did. Once they were broken in, they fit perfectly!

  2. I love that, it is unexpected! The green with black looks really good, I never think about mixing those colors (I guess I don't own a lot of green, though).

  3. LB OUI That frock is a total steal since it both clearly makes you look and feel fab. And I do think it's good to individualize and brighten up black with some colour/ accessory/ bit of sparkle near the face. (That's why med. ladies and nuns had the white wimple right?) I have been eyeing those CH ballet wedges for a while. Own a couple of pairs of the Air pumps, but the quest for "perfect" commuting shoes continues...

    1. Oh GF - the quest for the perfect commuting shoe is like the holy grail - you will search and search and there will always be that one thing wrong.

The only thing that has never ever bothered my feet were crocs. God is cruel

  4. I never want anything that's oversaturated like the bubble, I'm even crushed now that our lovely red roses pants from last year are now in so ' in fashion' , I loved them because they were so unique and didn't realise that brocade and jacquard cigarette pants were just about to explode into every single shop on the High St.
You look wonderful in shift dresses!

    1. Thanks Tabs. Don't get rid of the flower pants! When I come to the motherland, we can go clubbing in them!

  5. I just can't wear junk jewelry, even when it's overpriced and has a label on it. I've had my ear lobes swell from contact, I've had wrist and fingers turn green, I've had neck go bright red and break out in "contact rash." So no applause here for the necklace, but the dress is great on you. Sorry to sound like the bad fairy at the christening...

    1. Ha! You will always be Malificent to me! But in the best kind of way!!!

I hear you on junk! However, I think I am not of such tender stock as you are and as such, you need to take care of yourself and I will blithely go through life bedazzled.

Of course, this may all be moot. Now that real diamonds have entered my life, I may become immune as well! Maybe I am not as I never really had really nice jewellry!

    2. I have to admit that the allergy to Mystery Metals has served me well over the years. Did you know that Gold was the first hypo-allergenic metal? And the next was Platinum?

Of course my allergies are real, and are in fact downright creepy-looking when in full flare. I was once almost not allowed back home through passport control, having tried on something that - well, I should have known better.

    3. Oh! That sounds like a good story! I just got home from an evening meeting with a welt on my back! Who knows why... sigh.... I want to become immune to cheap jewellry...
