Miller Time Friday - Bohemian Rhapsody

Good Lord - Friday AGAIN!  On the other hand, well we would be in big trouble if there was NO Friday again, wouldn't we?

Thanks muchly for your kind comments about my new jeans!

BIG NEWS!  Tomorrow I may get to meet our very own GF and if I can talk her into it, I am going to make her pose for a picture with me and post it for you all Sunday!  Cross fingers now!

Today, you will see another one of my grand attempts to recreate a pinterest look in my closet.  Dani did one recently, too, and I think that she and I and Julie are in a race to see who can pin the most gorgeous photos!

Okay - here is the original image:

cropped black skinnies, white tshirt + pastel blazer.

Now, I do not have a pink blazer, though I did see a nice one in my travels downtown yesterday that is still calling my name...It is coincidentally almost the exact same price as the consignment shop said I have sitting there on credit....coincidence?  I think not.  Some things are meant to be, and if you don't believe me, well you must hightail it right over to read Ema's account of finding her dream shoes on sale at Barneys (honestly, I may ask your permission to steal that for a scene in a movie I want to write someday, Ema!).

I digress... I did not have a pale pink blazer, but I did have a pale blue one.  And I have the right black shoes, but honestly, I had to wear the silver sandals again (you know the whole cost-per-wear thing that AJC has drilled into me and that I am trying to make my own!), so I was not entirely true to the image...and I could not find black beads in the closet, but I have some gold and black beads from J Crew from last summer so tossed them on:

I know, back behind the plant, but I was all alone....

And a close-up of the jacket:

The black pointy pumps would have been just oh-so-perfect, but I was so smitten with the silver, I could not stop myself...

One thing I did want to share, and keep forgetting to: I recently ordered a chambray shirt from the Gap which I think I paid $30 CDN for and which I love.  I had been eyeing J Crew's version, but I felt it too pricey for what it was.

Here is the one I ordered:

1969 chambray boyfriend shirt

It is the 1969 Chambray Boyfriend Shirt.  I have to say - I love these boyfriend shirts.  I go up a size and they are suitably baggy and I tuck or tie them at the waist.  I am finding they fit me better than the J Crew shirts.

And on the hanger:

I have worn it with my new fancy pants, but forgot to take a picture.  Will take a pic the next time I wear it.  For $30, I consider this a great item and have come to the conclusion that for this type of casual, Gap is really filling my needs!

Yesterday, AJC mentioned that she thought that I looked more casual and comfortable and that perhaps a bit of boho style was my truer style.  I thought that was really interesting and so when I was over on my pinterest boards copying the image above, I took a look at some of my recent pins and realized she may be on to something...

white blazer :: summer lace ::

Pleated Midi skirt+Waterfall jacket

I also realized that my "it" bag may be a Celine bag....

So in honour of my realizing that, especially in summer, my style is going a little more boho, I thought we could make a Bohemian Cocktail.

Have I mentioned that I have never drunk St-Germain?  Have I mentioned I am desperate too? I think that is what I will pick up during my July trip.  Their website is awesome and well worth a visit.  Our friendly neighbourhood liquor commission does not carry it and I feel that they must, but thus far, they are ignoring my pleas..

BOHEMIAN

1 part gin

1 part st-germain

1 part freshly squeezed grapefruit juice

1 dash peychaud's bitters

Shake all ingredients with ice and serve in a coupe or  martini

glass.  garnish with an orange twist.

Bohemian

So happy Friday all!  Have a great day and stay safe out there!

  2. Loving your Pinterest inspired, looks! The blue jacket and beads look very cool - you need to master the 'blogger-looking-down' pose to complete the look ;-)

How exciting that you're meeting GF!! Looking forward to seeing a pic or two!

    2. My God - you are right! I always think you should look directly at the camera (plus, am always trying to hide double chin or something else!) but can see I am doing it all wrong! Oh you would all die if I started posing like that!

    3. Oh please do some poses like that! It would be too funny! Those contrived poses make me laugh so much!

  3. It looks very nice how you recreated the look.
I think AJC is right, the bohemian look is def "you".

Have you tried the JC's keeper chambray?
It is very nice and very versatile colorwise.

    1. HI Ina - linked in must do that automatically as I didn't do that, cause someone else told me that yesterday too!

I haven't tried the keeper chambray - will have to look!

  4. really like the crisp blue jacket - and those silver sandals are getting good use! they do seem to go with a lot of things.

One of the few things I bought this spring and I really haven't bought much as the weather has been so uninspiring is a chambray shirt as well and I looooove wearing it. I am in a total chambray mood as well!

  5. Your outfit looks nice on you. Cool that you're embracing a more boho look. Maybe it's just the angle, but I think it might be possible to replace the buttons on that blazer with ones that suit you better.

I like your GAP top a lot.

    Have fun with GF!

Are you going to be in T.O. in July? I am planning a trip, wondering if we could all overlap.

    1. HI Abby! It is funny - it never ever occurs to me to change buttons, though I know many people do! Could it be that I don't have that much inspiration? Likely! I will be in T.O., but likely for one day only - but let me know when you will be there - we might overlap!

  6. You look great, thanks for the outfit inspiration. Channeling you, I will be wearing black capris, white shirt & my Jcrew chambray blazer today I'm really loving that light blue shade this summer after I've seen your Nougat top. I've been buying a lot of GAP's new tailored shirts, too. They fit me awesome with their petite sizing and I usually can get them for $25 with all their promos. I can't wait for your pictures this weekend.

    1. HI Marie - I wish JC would take a page from gap on some of the less expensive items. It is hard to believe that the prices could be so different! Your outfit sounds lovely!

  7. You look nice! I think a bohemian vibe suits you, but maybe not all-out because I think the long loose clothing may overwhelm you. Your pins capture the boho without being head-to-toe 70s hippy.

    1. Cate - you are right - if I wear too flowy, I end up looking like a sack of potatoes! i think a nice funky vibe is a good thing!

  8. Lovely outfit, the pale blue really suits you! I am quite envious of your silver sandals. I bough one pair of sandals this year (the JC Lillian wedge sandal in suede) and that is all my budget will allow. I created a Pinterest account last year and then had no idea what to do with it. I should head back and take another look at it! The Gap chambray shirt looks really nice. I just bought the JC keeper chambray shirt from another JCA, and it is going to be perfect for this summer. Happy Friday!

  9. Maybe I'll recreate this outfit as well as headed up to Portland. You look awesome in this. Too bad there won't be a Celine at your consignment, mine neither.

St Germain is lovely and adore the bottle! We like Treelines with this, vodka, lime juice and mint ( skip simple syrup-- why drink more sugar?) Happy Friday-- think Andrea ( the storm) is headed your way.

  10. Love the outfit, both the inspiration and the recreation! JCrew has a cashmere blazer out right now in the most perfect shade of pink (though who knows what colour it truly is), it's called violet dust, the colour is. Have you seen it? Oh it's only $1200, never mind!

I did get my free-returns JCrew order and returned quite a bit of it but some keepers: the Kiki ballet flats, so comfy and perfect looking. I wore them last night for 4 hours to a school carnival which was a god test for comfort. They are replacing my black repettos.
It makes me want to try your silver sandals!

I have to start drinking my St-Germain, I really bought it for the pretty bottle and I still haven't opened it.

    2. Hold it till you see me!

Did you go TTS with the kikis - I really need black ballets and I quite like them! I am torn between them and a cashmere hoodie for fall in flax, which is superfluous, as I own the same colour in a cardigan, but i love that kind of hoodie - must check and see if Brora does hoodies!

    3. WMM yup I took my regular size, 8.5. They really are comfy, I took them out of the box at 5:10 and put them on. Left for the carnival at the school, was on my feet in gym for 2.5 hours, walking around entire time. Came home made dinner, cleaned up and finally took the shoes off at 9:15, my feet weren't complaining at all.
Now I want the red ones too, they are the perfect shade of dark red.
Brora does hoodies, I don't have one, they are super spensive. Sometimes they go on reduction in the July sale though.

    4. I think I will go Kikis then - i had vowed to only buy Brora cashmere - so Brora it will be - besides I do have the same colour already! Will watch for the July sale! I like all of the Kiki colours, so this could be a boon! I have returned so much of what I tried as well - just not good until I hit the sandals! But I really love classic black ballet flats and mine are hanging by a thread and no good!

    5. Don't mean to bud in but Wendy I have the Crew hoodie and the cashmere sucks. Wait for the Brora sale and only buy once.
I love the blue and silver on you. You're looking so darn pretty this week. Those metallic sandals will want to be paired with some crazy Pants!!

  11. Thank you for the mention Wendy, glad you liked the story and please use the scene in your future movie ;-).
That was a good inspiration to substitute the pink blazer with the blue one but I agree that maybe you should consider changing the buttons (they look a bit big?)
I never drank St. Germain (only listened to St. Germain ad nauseam when I was in Paris).

  14. I like your interpretation better. You are not standing pidgeon toed!! When did that become the norm? Is it because their shoes are too tall for their Achilles' tendon to handle or did parents stop getting corrective shoes for their children? Sorry for the rant! I'm just sayin.
I tried on that Gap chambray shirt and it is fabulous. Soft, quality weave and nicely priced. I had ignored Gap for many years but am giving them another look lately.
