If you have a dance party, you ought to invite me. What I lack in moves, I more than make up for in enthusiasm.
I am not necessarily coordinated, but that also has its place at a dance party. There always needs to be at least one person who "trips" over a piece of furniture while doing a complicated twirl while holding a drink.
I am that person. It is a big responsibility and I take that job seriously.
If you put on just about anything from the late 70s to late 80s, I am there. I am so there! And one of my favourite has got to be Talking Heads' Burning Down the House.
What made me think of that?
Well Saturday night we went to our friends Mike and Mary's house for the 2nd annual spring solstice ceremony.
You can read all of the details on Mary's blog here. She and Mike put a lot of work into ushering Spring back to Canada. We were full of awe and gratitude!
Mike is an artist and even the way Wicker Man was standing was kind of unnerving to me:
He looks kind of defiant, doesn't he?
One by one we walked a narrow snowy path to put our offerings of old socks and in my case, expired cream of wheat (who has expired cream of wheat you must ask - I guess me, I must respond).
On the way down to wicker man I stepped into a deep hole and fell over. This might or might not be related to the wine I'd been drinking in the kitchen before the solemn ceremony. All I could do was lay on the snow, in a snowstorm, and laugh.
We trudged our snowy carcasses back into the house and proceeded to enjoy a fabulous meal. I may have added Bailey's Irish Cream to the dregs of red wine. I do not recommend it, but that's what I'm here for, to provide these words of advice, so you don't have to try these things yourself.
This weekend's advice:
- stay on the path
- some forms of alcohol do not mix
- dance like your life depends on it and
- pick really cool people to hang out with and perform ancient druid ceremonies.
Thanks Mike and Mary! Hope everyone has a great Tuesday and Stay Safe Out there!
To add a little more Spring, how about Bing and Fred to help us get in the mood?
