A (very) short post today as I must unpack, get some food and then collapse.
More pictures to come (and only good stories - I will NOT bore you with the minutiae of the trip except where I think you might be interested).
Mostly wanted to say that the trip was excellent, the weather perfection, the wine and food TOO good.... I will not weigh myself for awhile.
A taste of the trip:
From the balcony of our condo, which felt like a tree house...
Yesterday, we had to get up at 4 a.m. to take catch our flight home.
I am glad there are no photos as
a) I couldn't shower and I was having the WORST hair day ever
b) the chinos that looked so cute rolled up in Florida with sandals made me look like a fashion victim with my walking shoes in the airports and the Sephora I dashed into in Bangor!
c) no amount of makeup could make me look happy and perky....
The worst thing was that we ran into people we knew. It is a terrible thing to run into people you know when you look like hell. At least all of the strangers would never see me again, until god-willing, my book ever gets published and they buy me at the airport (and I will have a glamour shot for that trust me!)
Oh and the second worst thing was that it seems like it is still winter here! What up with that?
On positive side, house sitter took good care of Indy, house was clean when we returned, but sea monkeys may not have made it. Tabs, you will be disappointed to hear that, given your love of all things sea monkeys (NOT!) but I will get more Tabs, and you can guess what will be coming with your birthday gifts this year!
Lots of stories to tell! I did miss you all!!!
We missed you too Wendy! Happy that everything went well and running into people on bad hair day seems a liitle price to pay for what seems to have been a fantastic vacation!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the pictures but that condo is dreamy!
Ema! i thought of you yesterday when we flew into LaGuardia! We all decided we are going to try to make it to NYC in the summer! I waved at you, but you probably didn't see me!
Deletep.s. can you email me your instagram name?
That's great news! My plans for the summer as still a bit up in the air but I will probably go to Europe in July and be here for most of August (usually it is the opposite). Let me know when you have the dates!
DeleteMy IG account is crazyaboutjcrew ;-). Hope to see you there!
Hello Wendy:
ReplyDeleteBut that you are returned to us all is the main thing and that you so obviously had a wonderful time away.
Order food on line to facilitate collapsing, we suggest.
Jó hétvégét!
Jane and Lance - you are on to something! We had a fabulous time and many good stories to tell! Hope you are well!
DeleteI'm so happy you're back home safe and sound, it seems like you were gone for a month. We missed you! I hope the sun is out for you today, it is quite gloomy and cold here but yesterday was sunny and above freezing (!) and it felt like a whiff of spring.
ReplyDeleteI bet your trip was amazing, I want to hear all about it.
Rotten luck to run into those people but I bet you didn't look as bad as you think. Don't forget your charm is dazzling!
Oh no! Barry said I looked bad!!!! But I am all freshly scrubbed this a.m. and wearing a new top a faerie sent me! Will get in touch later!
DeleteSo happy you are back: the blogosphere was a less sparkly place last week. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen! I am CRAZY about your blog - how have i missed it before now!!
DeleteIsn't it fabulous!! I just love it too. I just found her recently and went back to read from the beginning. She's totally right, the blogosphere was dimmed by your absence!
DeleteOh that's my treat for tonight! I have to catch up!!! Thanks for the kind words!
DeleteSo glad it was a great week for you and your family. Hope you have retained some of that Florida warmth! Let the stories begin.
ReplyDeleteAre you still there? assume yes and that MLane is en route?
DeleteWe had the best weather! I wish I'd had two more days and that we could have met up but will definitely see you in Maine this summer! I thought of you when I took a picture of Sally struthers' handprints at Disney Hollywood studios -s he is the Queen of Ogunquit!
What fun! Not yet, but I get a daily grim weather report. And we love snow! As Dani does, but enough is enough; Mother Nature disagrees.
DeleteI haven't checked the Ogunquit line-up for the summer. Wonder what part she'll do?
Welcome back!!!! I'm so glad that you had a great trip.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rynetta! Thought of you when I popped into the JC!
DeleteI'll echo others in saying it felt like a month! I'm glad you're safe and sound and that the trip was great! haven't forgotten about emailing you, my dear. Can't wait to see Bud's popsicle pictures!
ReplyDeleteThanks AB! We did get a few, mostly at dinners! Thanks - now that i am back I will be back to the grindstone this week!
DeleteHow did the outfits perform? You must share with us your packing success! We really missed you, Wenders!
DeleteArrgh - I don't think i wore the shorts once - the dress was okay but not necessary - my linen skirts were perfect for the weather and what we were doing, as was my tees and my boho top from last summer (navy cotton one from JC) I could have survived with only one pair of trousers but bought two! Isn't that always the way!
DeleteNow of course I HATE everything in my closet because they are still winter clothes! I am going to work on an "ease into spring" wardrobe today to keep me going! Otherwise I will be a mess!
Gotta love Barry for being honest. At least they didn't pull out their phones for a picture...then you know you looked like hell.looking forward to your adventures.
ReplyDeleteOh there may be the odd picture that will never be seen!
DeleteYay, your back! I always look horrendous on holiday, I've always got greasy skin and knotted hair and somehow well planned outfits just never seem to work once I go abroad.
ReplyDeleteYes , it felt like millennia, you're not allow to go away again!
That is so funny! My skin was PERFECTION as it was so humid and my skin had been so dry it was flaking right off! I think the chips and fudge also greased me up! Hair was BIG!!!!
DeleteSo glad you're back. I did take postures of myself on my last plane ride home from vacation and have kept them for their horror factor. Sobering. So happy you're back. xo
ReplyDeleteOh Jennifer - I couldn't even stand to look at myself in the bathroom mirror - I skulked from airport washroom to airport washroom as if i was some criminal!
DeleteWelcome home Wendy, glad to hear you had a wonderful trip. I have a terrible passport photo and I think it's great because I look just like it when I am traveling. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeletexoxo - I have never seen a good passport photo! I would like to see Charlize Theron's - if hers is bad, could there be hope for anyone!
DeleteHope you are settling in well with the babies! Are they sleeping through the night?
Oh and PS xoxo - got into a Brooks Brothers store and really loved some of the things there! i thought of you! There is a top I will probably order for spring!
DeleteYay! Glad you are back and sounds like you had a great time - and yes I hate bumping into people at the airport let alone when you don't feel your best - ugh. Rest up and I can't wait to hear all about it x
ReplyDeletethanks Naomi! hope all is right in your world!
DeleteWelcome back Wendy!
ReplyDeleteI missed your posts,as i am used to reading them in the morning:)
Are you on IG now?In case you are, hare is my IG name inawonderland5
thanks Ina! I am still learning Instagram, but I will look for you!
DeleteGlad to have you back. My morning routine is not the same without your blog to read. I hear you on airports, I totally get why people who can afford it have private planes. I've only just recently weighed myself after our December trip and the numbers are still not looking great. I look forward to your Disney stories and packing recap.
ReplyDeleteAww - thanks Marie! Oh wouldn't a private plane make Barry happy!!!!
DeleteGlad you had great time, Wendy! Welcome back!
ReplyDeletethanks Rose!
DeleteWelcome back! So glad to hear that your trip was awesome and can't wait to read all about it. Relax:)
ReplyDeleteThanks A!
DeleteWelcome back! So glad you had a wonderful time and indulged! I'm sure you looked fine...a cherished familiar face in the depths of the airport is always a happy sight! Missed you!
ReplyDeleteHi Rebecca! You are very kind about the cherished familiar face, though I think I might have looked like the Bogey Man!
DeleteHello Wendy - welcome home! So glad to hear the trip was a great success (any trip where you don't want to weigh yourself after it has been good in my opinion!). As for the airport... don't worry about running into people. Airports are strange places where you'll find people in Winter coats, and others in shorts and sandals with plaited braids with beads on the ends, all looking tired. I often think it must look like that at the gates of Hell.
ReplyDeleteHope the snow starts to melt soon! xx
Heidi - you are right on - we saw more people with corn rows than I care to mention...
DeleteWelcome back , weary travelers!
ReplyDeleteAirport me is not a kindly and well-disposed person, I sympathize.
Fred - I wished I'd found you - we could have commiserated...
DeleteWhy is it that when we go out with fuzzy pjs on, our bed head, un-showered, no makeup self gets in a huge traffic jam taking the kids to school? Then, since you are tardy, you have to walk the kids into the school office to sign them in in all your glory. I have learned this the hard way. Just like you at the airport, one always runs into someone when one least expects it. It's a wonder that the airport terminal staff don't have burnt retinas from some of the views they've had to witness. So glad to have you safely home. We are all ready to see the pop-sicle photobombing your adventures. I will continue to try not to be jealous!
ReplyDeleteThanks SC! I am still organizing photos from various electronic devices! And trying not to be dull!
DeleteLove the image of you doing walk of shame into the school!
Super news! You had a wonderful time and you are now home. I've missed life with Wendy! So we can plan an NYC summer event??? Wouldn't that be great?
ReplyDeleteTeacups! Whenever I come next to NYC you will all know in advance! Promise!
DeleteGlad you're back Wendy, and glad to hear it was a good trip! Look forward to reading your adventures!
ReplyDeletethanks Ruth!
