A Traveler's Lament

A (very) short post today as I must unpack, get some food and then collapse.

More pictures to come (and only good stories - I will NOT bore you with the minutiae of the trip except where I think you might be interested).

Mostly wanted to say that the trip was excellent, the weather perfection, the wine and food TOO good....  I will not weigh myself for awhile.

A taste of the trip:

Photo: A beautiful morning again! I'll take as the weather is expected to cool!

From the balcony of our condo, which felt like a tree house...

Photo: In my treehouse in Florida...

Yesterday, we had to get up at 4 a.m. to take catch our flight home.

I am glad there are no photos as

a) I couldn't shower and I was having the WORST hair day ever

b) the chinos that looked so cute rolled up in Florida with sandals made me look like a fashion victim with my walking shoes in the airports and the Sephora I dashed into in Bangor!

c) no amount of makeup could make me look happy and perky....

The worst thing was that we ran into people we knew.  It is a terrible thing to run into people you know when you look like hell.  At least all of the strangers would never see me again, until god-willing, my book ever gets published and they buy me at the airport (and I will have a glamour shot for that trust me!)

Oh and the second worst thing was that it seems like it is still winter here!  What up with that?

On positive side, house sitter took good care of Indy, house was clean when we returned, but sea monkeys may not have made it.  Tabs, you will be disappointed to hear that, given your love of all things sea monkeys (NOT!) but I will get more Tabs, and you can guess what will be coming with your birthday gifts this year!

Lots of stories to tell!  I did miss you all!!!

  1. We missed you too Wendy! Happy that everything went well and running into people on bad hair day seems a liitle price to pay for what seems to have been a fantastic vacation!
Can't wait to see the pictures but that condo is dreamy!

    1. Ema! i thought of you yesterday when we flew into LaGuardia! We all decided we are going to try to make it to NYC in the summer! I waved at you, but you probably didn't see me!

p.s. can you email me your instagram name?

    2. That's great news! My plans for the summer as still a bit up in the air but I will probably go to Europe in July and be here for most of August (usually it is the opposite). Let me know when you have the dates!
My IG account is crazyaboutjcrew ;-). Hope to see you there!

  2. Hello Wendy:

But that you are returned to us all is the main thing and that you so obviously had a wonderful time away.

Order food on line to facilitate collapsing, we suggest.

    Jó hétvégét!

  3. I'm so happy you're back home safe and sound, it seems like you were gone for a month. We missed you! I hope the sun is out for you today, it is quite gloomy and cold here but yesterday was sunny and above freezing (!) and it felt like a whiff of spring.
I bet your trip was amazing, I want to hear all about it.
Rotten luck to run into those people but I bet you didn't look as bad as you think. Don't forget your charm is dazzling!

    1. Are you still there? assume yes and that MLane is en route?

We had the best weather! I wish I'd had two more days and that we could have met up but will definitely see you in Maine this summer! I thought of you when I took a picture of Sally struthers' handprints at Disney Hollywood studios -s he is the Queen of Ogunquit!

    2. What fun! Not yet, but I get a daily grim weather report. And we love snow! As Dani does, but enough is enough; Mother Nature disagrees.

I haven't checked the Ogunquit line-up for the summer. Wonder what part she'll do?

    3. Arrgh - I don't think i wore the shorts once - the dress was okay but not necessary - my linen skirts were perfect for the weather and what we were doing, as was my tees and my boho top from last summer (navy cotton one from JC) I could have survived with only one pair of trousers but bought two! Isn't that always the way!

Now of course I HATE everything in my closet because they are still winter clothes! I am going to work on an "ease into spring" wardrobe today to keep me going! Otherwise I will be a mess!

  14. Glad to have you back. My morning routine is not the same without your blog to read. I hear you on airports, I totally get why people who can afford it have private planes. I've only just recently weighed myself after our December trip and the numbers are still not looking great. I look forward to your Disney stories and packing recap.

  18. Hello Wendy - welcome home! So glad to hear the trip was a great success (any trip where you don't want to weigh yourself after it has been good in my opinion!). As for the airport... don't worry about running into people. Airports are strange places where you'll find people in Winter coats, and others in shorts and sandals with plaited braids with beads on the ends, all looking tired. I often think it must look like that at the gates of Hell.
Hope the snow starts to melt soon! xx

  20. Why is it that when we go out with fuzzy pjs on, our bed head, un-showered, no makeup self gets in a huge traffic jam taking the kids to school? Then, since you are tardy, you have to walk the kids into the school office to sign them in in all your glory. I have learned this the hard way. Just like you at the airport, one always runs into someone when one least expects it. It's a wonder that the airport terminal staff don't have burnt retinas from some of the views they've had to witness. So glad to have you safely home. We are all ready to see the pop-sicle photobombing your adventures. I will continue to try not to be jealous!
