I Believe in Pink

I believe in pink.  Audrey Hepburn

Oh Polar Vortex, you scamp, you are making me cold and miserable, but I will not give in, for I have discovered the remedy to these mid-winter doldrums and it is pink.

or should I say PINK.

I can't get enough of it and sadly, when I look around, I see that there is more that could begotten!

I've got a whole Pinterest thing going these days about my love of pink, including the following delectable images:

I pretty much need to find a jacket like this...

Last night I had trouble sleeping and woke up in the middle of the night and thought about wearing pink and burgundy today so I did!
I know, back in the bathroom, sigh...

I thought of flowers and other pink delights...

And that made me look around my house and snap some sweet pink things in my own place...

The raspberry pink of my hallway...

The pink hues of the first tulips I've bought this year.

Pink nail polish, lip gloss, shimmer power, Urban Decay's Naked 3 palette is all of its rosy goodness...

 A sweet little drawstring purse:

 Dried hydrangea:

Pink cashmere gloves:

Rose quartz crystals in my office:

And then I got to thinking of doors.  My yellow house has a white door, but imagine the pop of pink...

Seriously, right?

And then I started thinking of some more pink in the house and I knew exactly what room needed, nay DEMANDED a rosy hue - my dining room, stuck in its golden hue for ten long years:

But some lovely pinkish hue and voila!  New life!

So here's the thing: who's going to break this to Barry?????

Yup, I am under the power of pink these days.  How 'bout you?

Have a great day and stay safe out there!

  1. For some reason it is now seen as a very feminine color but a hundred years ago boys were dressed in pink. It is very calming and makes everyone look good. I say pink would suit that room very well. It doesn't have to be bright pink - there is a color called middleton pink at farrow and ball. very soothing!

    4. Hmm - I think all babies look good in pink, so this makes sense to me - what a shame we've relegated colours and words to genders and sexual proclivities! I would like to feel gay again, but alas, I think I never shall..

The Middleton pink is quite lovely. I have a few months before we will even consider painting, but perhaps I will tell him we are painting the walls a light red, since he insisted that the tulips were red..

    5. I was told that pink was a boy's color until the turn of the last century because of its ties to blood and valor, but there is an interesting article here about another theory...

  2. I like it interiors but I only look good in its stronger counterparts which aren't my thing. I am however tempted to try blush this year but not with black, maybe grey or white.

    1. You know I love my colours! I just adore a rich shade, so this might be fun for a couple of years!

  3. Hunter would never do it...good luck with Barry. I am determined to find just the right shade of pink tee this summer. Something I don't have to fake tan to look good. I have pink skin and have a tough time because I prefer the light light pink. Can't wait to see your dining room after the paint job.

  4. Those pics are soothing. I look out my window and see slush. I like that lightest shade of blush pink but the darker raspberry pink suits me better. I see you rocking all shades of pink. Didn't Vreeland say that pink is the navy blue of India?

    1. I wish I saw slush. all is frozen ridges of ice, a recipe for falling disaster! I do love pinks and blues and greens - mostly jewel tones, but I love the blush above and the images Tabs posted about last week!

  5. ROSE COLOURED GLASSES Well you could try the front door with Barry and then negotiate "down" to the dining room. I never "think pink," except for the singer. See recent comments on B&P's "Blush post. But I do admire your selections and rosy attitude. Mind over weather WMM!

  9. Wendy,i was just thinkng about pink or specifically blush.I am not a big pinkwearer,if even though i love to look at pink. That has changed lately and i am in love with blushtones(lots of blush needed to not wash me out) and i would love to add a few tees to my cclothing collection. Did you see the bracelet in blush that was a new arrival? I probably will get that, because i really love it. Love your tulips!!!

    1. I Haven't seen the new arrivals but I will go take a quick look! I did like the look of the colour of a pink sweater I saw at jcrew's pinterest board! I am loving all shades right now, so it is all good to me!

  10. I have enjoyed very much your pink board on Pinterest and I love your pink entry... It is a great color. I will have to look to this Farrow and Ball pink mentioned by CWS... I have a bit of pink in my dinning room, but very subtle... I don't have much pink for the cold seasons, but I do have quite some pink for the warmer season and I love it.

    1. I'm going to have to check - not sure if any shops sell farrow and ball around here - maybe one of the larger cities nearby! I do love the white and warren pink cashmere cardigan I got this winter - it is so lovely! Of course after my pink day I am already planning to wear black tomorrow!

  11. I noticed your Pink fascination on Pinterest. I love pink, but it's a tough color for me to wear without looking old. I think a pink dining room would be smashing. We accidentally painted our first house pink. We were newlyweds, first little stucco California house and decided to buy a gazillion gallons of paint to spruce up the place. We had friends over, gave each a gallon can and brush and sent them around the sides. By the time we noticed it was raspberry, it was too late. It was on every side and around all the windows. Lesson here was don't buy a lot of paint without trying out a sample. I loved it, but my husband wasn't so thrilled.

    1. Oh my - what a great story!!!! I can never see Barry living loving a pink house, though I love them!

    2. Jennifer, I have a similar story - I painted our master bath last year, was going for a pale ballet pink and ended up with Pepto Bismol! My husband was also not thrilled, so I've just re-done it in a pale grey (which I had already seen on a wall).

Nevertheless Wendy, I do love your pink board - especially those pink front doors! (I don't think they'd go down so well in suburbia though!)

    3. I think my neighbours would be up in arms! I hate pepto bismol pink - jcrew had a bunch of that a few years ago!

    1. GSL - do you mean for walls on clothing, because I think pink can be so lovely! I love blush too, I just always have to be careful being so pale myself!

    2. I mean for walls or front door; it is a lovely color and works very well for women. I own 2 pink button downs (1 patterned) which I only wear for summery garden party events under a sportcoat.

    3. ooh - love the idea of you at summer garden parties! I need to add summer garden parties into the mix this coming summer! Mine err too much towards BBQ parties!

Well if I go pink in the dining room (even the lovely sedate Middleton Pink) I am trusting you will just drink yourself blind when sitting at my dining room table and that will make it all okay! ;-)

    4. I've got that move.
Actually if the Middleton Pink is the one above the zebra rug then I am fine with that; the louder pink wall next to the staircase I am less keen on.

    5. Oh yes, softer for sure! But still plan on the drinking!

I'll try to convince Barry, well I'll see what I can do. I do like the idea of a pink ceiling as Fred suggested, my dining room ceiling does need a new paint.

  19. girl, I am quietly obsessed with pink right now. I just want little exuberant touches every day, though your quiet and refined roses and blushes are rather convincing as well. (oh shoot, I just caved to the wallpapery pinky allure of J Crew's collection antiqued floral silk blouse...sigh)

Your berry hallway is great, and I think some kind of pinky tone would be fantastically glamorous in the dining room. Just show Barry a bunch of options, from semi-safe to radical. But stay in that pink range!!
