Plaid Tidings of Great Factory Joy

Happy over-the-top-Tuesday, in which I model my Christmas pants!!  Yes, the factory skimmers are in and they are beauts!

Factory skimmer pant in Black Watch plaid

Others have modeled them before me, but none have have taken the time to show you the versatility of these babies!  They, are my friends, the perfect Christmas pant.

Sequin tshirt, plaid skimmer pants, and green velvet loafers - simple and sequin-y - you know, for when you are throwing a cocktail together for your mates who have just dropped in to bring a gift.  Do not feign false modesty - you look fabulous and they SHOULD bring you a gift!

Ah, but then you trade out the sequins for your red Judith and Charles blouse, your bling-bling cardi from last year in dark poppy and little red Joe Fresh faux viv flats, because you are going to make cookies or rum balls.  No nipping too much rum mind you!  You will of course need an apron...Is it a coincidence that my nose seems red?

Or you decide to watch "White Christmas", so you slip on a navy velvet tshirt and get all cozy!

Or you put on a lovely white blouse and head to a christmas concert or the symphony.

or you put your hair up, put on a green tshirt and get all cozy reading a good book!  Perfect pants!!!!

What do you think?

The other thing in the factory box was the grey snowflake tshirt:

Factory sequin snowflake tee

Others have commented on the oddness of the sequins, which are not really sequin-y.  It is more like a foil print on the t, which I kind of like, but then I grew up in the 60s and there was still tinsel on the trees!

I decided to pair it with new purple pants and my pale lilac lightweight cashmere cardigan:

Are those Lulu sequin ballet flats from 2011 on my feet?  Why yes, good eyesight!!!  They are indeed!

So that is the factory box!

And now, I am going to totally rip off Miss Dani's brown polka dots pants outfit of a week or so ago:

Little faux fur jacket, elie tahari tshirt and my chocolate velvet Talbot platform heels from a couple of years ago:

Unpainted toes - the horrors!  They will be nicely painted tomorrow!

And dressed down, with my neon fuchsia tippi and leopard loafers on the weekend.  Truly a lounge pant!

So there you have it - plaid pants that will see you through all of your holiday events and my own little homage to Dani.  Happiest of Tuesday all!  Stay Safe Out there!

  1. "Still tinsel on the trees' - so funny, how have we lived lived without it?
The tartan trews are fab, so so Christmassy.

    1. I actually have a bag of it that I inherited from my parents - it actually looks really swell on a tree - a few years ago, I put up a wee little tree in the basement and it looked so pretty! I do not "decorate" a tree a la the latest beautiful designer mags - it is all sentimental for me at Christmas! What would they do to you over in the old country if you showed up wearing those pants????

  3. Love your brown silk dot outfit, we are twins! We should arrange to wear it some night and toast each other across the miles!
You have truly proved that those pants are the perfect holiday pant. I like the rum-ball outfit the best!

    1. You gotta love someone who create a rum-ball outfit!!! How kitschy am i?

    2. I don't know what rum balls are but I know I want them.

    3. The non-classy and always open to kitchen individuality Canuck holiday version of a homemade truffle - ground nuts (almonds), icing sugar, bittersweet chocolate, dark rum, good vanilla, maybe a splash of cream. Will post you some of the 2012 crop. And I suppose this means you've never had a Nanaimo Bar (our other national sweet freak) yet either...

    4. Oh they sound amazing, off to google the bar.

    5. I must still be so tired! When I saw that you are off to google the bar, I kept thinking: what bar and how do I get there?

  4. NOT TRAD PLAID Wow, WMM, you weren't kidding about the multi-tasking photo essay. (Hope DD was at least amused.) My fave OOCM are the "Present me" and "Rum-ba", first two. And no, not because I am thinking cocktails. Doing the desk happy dance to your "Glam Jams" Talbots' shoes and <3 the idea of you and DBP as more closet twins. I was also wondering what would happen to Tabs if we outed her with a Project 33 pair of those pants and a bottle of bourbon, not whisky. What would the Scots do? Then again, these are the folk that ignored an entire giraffe.

    1. These are a taciturn people. I should know! I think we could let her loose with the pants after the bourbon and all would be well with her world!

The joe fresh sequin t shirt is slightly itchy - I may need to put something underneath, like a mink stole or something very expensive!!!

Do you think they ignored an entire giraffe or were just so gob-smackingly excited that their hearts would have burst to have hugged it???? I know, that is the alternate WMM universe!!!

    2. No itchy tees at Xmas no matter how pretty, sorry Joe. (Although if it gets you a mink vest and you want one I am all for it.)

I think they were just being too unruffled and too-cool-for-school, afraid to make the first "am I a nutter?!" move, in the best "don't make a fuss" Brit tradition. Lucky we Canucks have a bit of the American "put yourself out there" to rub off on us and aerate our dour roots.

    3. I am heading over in my pushme-pullyou costume right now!! Hold on Scotland, here I come!!!

    4. Get Fresh and WMM - I might swallow my tongue with laughter!

    5. Again - you say that, but don't you think Scotland deserves a little love, too??? My husband could not recall what a pushme-pullyou is!! Off topic - need you to direct me to your DH's book offline - I am seeing a bunch but want the right one so that he gets the $ and you might get a new pair of sensible shoes! It hurts how much I care ;-)

    6. Well you two always crack me up, so turn-about is fair play. And no swallowing your tongue you'll dribble that precious tough-to-source bourbon.
I was just nightmare imagining you in your new Sperry boots, topped off with the holiday trousers, the Elmer Fudd jacket and a fur trapper hat. Just the kind of nightmare mash-up a certain Gayle would do.
And what's this about DH's new title?

    7. Oh yes, please do tell Tabs! I am interested in hearing about the book, too. :)

  5. Isn't it fun when an order works out! Those pants are so versatile. Mickey should employ you, you've nearly sold me the pants and I don't even need or want plaid pants :-) You do have an eye for buying things that work with clothes you already have... is that one of your new velvet tops? I should shop for outfits, my mom has told me this my whole life, but I'm hopeless!

    1. It is more serendipitous than planned, I assure you! Yes, is one of the $25 velvet tops, paired with $50 pants and $20 Joe Fresh shoes! Not sure if Mickey would like that! honestly, I cannot for the life of me imagine that Mickey doesn't want me for an ad campaign:

"You like red wine, sequins, good books and want to lose 10 or 15 pounds and still believe in Santa Claus. We know you're out there.."

      Delete
    2. Ah, WMM, the JCA agency would snap you and a few others straight up. It's that Mickey thinks you won't be happy on those stark, white pages.

      Delete
    3. I am totally laughing WMM, you are so funny.

    4. I think that my ad campaign would be very successful for that small market niche of short canadian women - I think Mickey is trying to be too universal!

      Delete
    5. WMM- you would get me to open my wallet with your ad campaign. what a delightful blog! Stay safe... NJ

      Delete
    6. Thanks NJ! I think Mickey would do better if some other bodies were shown wearing the clothes! Sometimes they arrive and I think "Oh right, I'm not 5'11" and stick thin! :-)

  6. What a great find -- Factory is really competing with the full-priced version on this one! I love the velvet loafers with the pant. And I love the color pairings in the purple pant outfit and the fur jacket one -- you're very good at putting together the colors in an outfit!

    1. Thanks Life as a Cat - though honestly, I have brazenly stolen from Dani on the fur jacket outfit!

I was surprised how nice these factory pants were!

  7. Ohhh I Love this plaid pants from factory!!! I got mine too, and you are rocking it in so many ways! I will need to copy cat some ideas, also I'm a huge fan of the silky polka dots cafe capri pants, never thought with animal print shoes, so nice! I can't wait to wear mine!
    Have a wonderful day!

    1. Hey Andrea - aren't they awesome??? I need to try them with yellow as well! I really liked the animal print shoes with those dotty pants - they just seemed awfully perky together!

  8. The plaid pants look fab on you. I got them too but they are kinda tight, even in a size up, and there was no 10 (two sizes up) to try. I think I am just going to try to lose 5lbs before Christmas so I can still wear them!!! I love how they fit you... they look much better slightly loose and trouser-y than tight!

Love all your outfits, totally copying them!

    1. Copy away! I steal from you folks all the time! DOn;t you hate it when they are slightly tight? The purple tie silk trousers are a wee tight, but I can breath! Weird as I am always a 6 in those! SOmeone was discussing them cutting the material and I like to think I am 2 inches shy of a good cutting instead of just getting terribly chubby!

  9. I love the plaid pants on you, WMM! I also picked up a pair at our local Factory store here last weekend, and look forward to wearing them during the Christmas Holidays. Even though the J.Crew skimmers and capri pants are not the best silhouette for my figure, I just couldn't pass these up since they are so cute and perfect for Christmas time. I may even wear them this Friday when decorating our Christmas tree. :)

    1. I meant when I went to the Factory store last week. I would NEVER attempt to go there on a weekend...completed MADNESS it is!

    2. I bet you will look awesome in them! I don't blame you and I bet this weekend will be worst ever! I was shocked that even our local stores in canada are offering black friday sales - guess it is all a big competition, what with online shopping being so pervasive and so many folks travelling to Maine from here for deals!

  10. You look darling and so festive in your new plaid pants. It is not a look I could ever pull off in a million years - so I'll live vicariously though your cute outfits.

    1. That could be the plan! I am not sure - I think I may make the list and then get husband to order early Friday. Not sure what it will be.... I have a sick longing for those darn navy velvet Darby loafers. Don't tell Fred! Wait till she sees my post tomorrow! She will rightly abuse me! WHo needs all these velvet loafers??? Well, me, maybe!

    2. TWO-FER You actually have four blokes to choose from between you John-Boy, Jason, Ben and Jim-Bob, so no squabbling. (That's a double-name and a spare.) Filing this under "don't tell Barry" while I scrabble through the pantry for rum ball fixings...
