Okay - I will be going backwards and forwards over this trip..
I will say I was happy to meet up again with GetFresh in her home town!
Look how tall she looks!! I am wearing very flat shoes (red kikis!) and she is wearing very nice shoes!!!
We had a lovely breakfast - it was amazing to me how she can eat pancakes...
Of course, my crepes were a bit much too...
we did NOT finish our breakfasts...
We had a marvelous time visiting. Barry said he did not think there was anything left to be said... Silly man!
After we left GF and were en route to see other friends, we visited a small town called Elora, Ontario.
We lucked out by arriving in the midst of their music festival and there was lots of live music in the town square. Of course it was 90 degrees, so it was a little intense....
Small shops and restaurants overlook the Gorge below, which is quite lovely.
A shot of the main street:
My favourite shop was a little place called Pariscope.
This was a beauty of a spot. I bought some lovely French linen napkins, an old enamel sign, and a 1950s vintage champagne bucket.
Some pictures of the shop:
Isn't this a lovely shop?
So yay to Elora! I will definitely visit this gem of a spot again! we will continue on and good luck us! Loving Ontario!
******************
I would be remiss if I did not take a moment to note the very sad passing of our Canadian homeboy, Cory Monteith. He was a very talented young man, and regardless of his demons, has left behind devastated family, friends, and fans...
Rest in Peace, Cory - you will be missed!
Take care everyone - and stay safe out there!

That shop looks right up my alley! I love the sound of everything you bought. A shopper after my own heart. I'm glad you're having such a wonderful trip. That's what holidays are all about.
ReplyDeleteI love their website. I think I need several of their dish towels, a collection of their soaps and their French butter bowl. What a delightful shop.
ReplyDeleteit is nice, isn't it? I almost bought that butter bowl, but spent lots of money and still had more places to visit... :-)
Deleteoh how fun that you got to meet get fresh. i'm so lucky to have recently met a few of my favorite bloggers in person and i know how special that is. and it is so sad about cory, his family must be devastated, so sad.
ReplyDeleteit was great fun and we had a great time!
DeleteThe shop looks lovely and you and GF even lovelier...although those crepes almost beat you both :) Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteBB, those (fresh) blueberry pancakes were my breakfast AND lunch. As I told WMM, Barry gives good food coma.
DeleteBarry definitely gives good food coma - I could not eat it all!
DeletePariscope is also my source of delicious Kusmi tea ... and occasionally glassware, soap, linens, dishes....
ReplyDeleteLily - you are one lucky duck - living in such an amazing town!!
DeleteThe shot of you and GF is darling! Yes, silly Barry...
ReplyDeleteIs that a blue and white kimono in that shop? I got a cotton kimono this year and hate to take it off, so comfortable and cool in this weather. I'm a fellow napkin-oholic, can't resist good ones.
Lane, I keep wanting to swap my well-worn (so thin) flannel robe for a crisp cotton kimono.
DeleteMine is from a company called"Natural Habitat"; got it in Port Clyde at a small boutique in a soft blue and green vintage-y print. You need one of these!
Deletethat was a blue and white kimono - may have to see if that is buy-able online!!!
DeleteBREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS WMM, definitely adding Elora, besides Gorge, to road trip list. You know I love a champagne bucket! Can't wait to hear about Edith...
ReplyDeletePOOR GLEEKS Yes, felt very sorry for Cory fans leaving flowers outside a hotel I know well, his parents, gf et al. I did think the Vancouver PD spokesman who announced death and autopsy process officially was very empathetic, talking of watching show with his own daughters.
Deletethat is funny Anne - Barry knows that PD spokesman very well (he is acting chief) and he has actually had dinner at our house one night! You will love Elora!

ReplyDeleteHi Wendy, you and GF look lovely, how much fun that you got to meet up again. Thanks for the link to Pariscope - I know I would love to spend some time there.
ReplyDeleteMy boys and I watch Glee together and we were all so sad to hear of Cory's passing. It definitely gave them food for thought.
Hi Patricia - add it to the list and send husband to the pub down the street!
Deletewhat a great road trip, looking forward to hearing more!
ReplyDeletehey fred! more to come!
DeleteWendy that's my favourite store in Elora! We would have been in a mad frenzy if we had been there together.
ReplyDeleteI miss you and Barry already! Come back!
Drive safe Tootie,
xox
we just got to stockbridge - it is darling!!! we had such a good time - moving into the basement!
DeleteOh, how fun. Love the look of Elora!
ReplyDeleteThere is always so much more to say after hours of talking with kindred spirits, isn't it? Silly Barry...
Hey AJC - you are so right!
DeleteI love little shops like the one in your post. I can spend so much time looking through all the neat little things. Safe travels!
ReplyDeletexoxo - it was almost too much - I was almost giddy!
DeleteWe went to Elora when we lived in Ontario. Always had a great time and picked up some great pottery.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the both of you is perfect. Two peas in a pod. How special to connect with blog friends. Happy trails!
Hi Marsha! We did have fun! Can;t wait to connect to all!
DeleteYou two look so fabulous! That shop looks so up my alley, I would go nuts in there!
ReplyDeleteWMM, you are solely responsible for our imminent visit to Canada, you make it sound like the most perfect place in the world! It's so nice the see GF! Both your hairs look fab!
ReplyDeleteRe Cory, I am still in shock. So young.
