Purple Fancy Pants Day!!!!

Your patience is touching and lovely...

Today is the day - Purple Fancy Pants Day!!!

They arrived last Thursday, in all of their purple-y glory.

Remember them on the website:

Collection café capri in purple tie silk

The colour is described as tomo pink.

I did not know what tomo referred to.  I don't think I still do, although I think it refers to friendship in Japanese.  recommend you NOT google tomo.  Just sayin'!  Or be very careful if you do - just sayin'!  I tell you this as a public service because I love you all.

And I love these pants:

There are silvery greys in the pattern, lilac-pinks, black dots and outlines.  This is a pale pant for pale silvers, purples, navys, greys, blacks. It does not look good with my jewel tones.  It of course looks good with a white blouse or a black blouse.  I would love any other ideas for colours that might match from you all, my stylish guides to the universe!

A closer shot of the pattern:

And now on!

Here they are.  I must be honest, I did not make a huge effort with this outfit for you - I am still too tired, but I am wearing a Michael Kors blouse (should have changed the bra undernearth, oh well!) and silver nine west pumps.  I have ordered the lilac popcorn sweater but I am not holding my breath that it will be flattering on me!

Another shot, slightly back...Look how messy my room is!!!  This is what happens when you stay 5 days in a nursing home in your sweats and neglect your housekeeping duties!  I need Dani to come visit with her magic carpet bag and a spoonful of sugar, STAT!

These are very comfortable pants and the material is very soft, very much like tie material.  This was a surprise for me as I am not really trusting the Copywriter From Space and two of the three fancy/crazy pants I bought last year before Christmas had to be returned as they were nothing like they were described.  Anyone remember the jewel jacquard capris that weren't actually jacquard?  I really like these and I find them very elegant!

All in all, two thumbs up - well done, J Crew!!  I just wish there was a matching shift dress that Gayle could have me wear with it... :-)

In the spirit of full disclosure, I have ordered the matching flats to try with them.  I am ambivalent about this matchy-match look and would like your advice.  I like them and thoughts I would try them and see will take a picture when they arrive!!

Have a happy Thursday and stay safe out there!

  1. That material looks beautiful, I love the colour tones and the delicate pattern. I hope the sweater works it would be a lovely outfit, I wish I had the butt for those trousers but honestly when I stand side on without holding in my stomach, my belly sticks out more than my butt does.

Oh if only Dani could sweep in that would be perfect, I'd sweep in too and make bread and be one of Dani's little tidying up soldiers.

    1. Oh Tabs! You are too kind - did you not note the "muffin top"? I am seriously getting back in shape ASAP when this week is done. sigh... And yes, if I could push the belly back into the butt I would have a vavoom figure!

Well I sure would like it if you came and made bread! I love bread. After trying to stay off it this summer, I have decided life is too short! The happy news is that mu cleaning ladies are coming today in advance of people dropping over after the funeral tomorrow, so my house will look good!

  2. I debated about those pants because I love purple and I love tie silk and I love crazy pants. But I did not trust the CFS figuring they'd be a print on thin silk and I already have the silk foulard and several faux jacquards. So if these are truly tie silk, I will have to be a twin with you once more.

I think you look beautiful in them. I see a navy or charcoal silk shirt with the trousers. Heavy, like the Collection luxe silk crepe blouse. I have two of them and can vouch their luxe-ness.

    1. Tiffany Rose - I just ran up to doublecheck - they are indeed 100% silk and they are DEFINITELY tie material. I like them so much I may get the green ones, too! I wore our polka dot brown silk trousers last night for dinner with the family - they really are like wearing pj pants, only much chicer! I took a picture for posting on the weekend as I liked what i was wearing, though I did look like hell - too tired! I will have to go check out the luxe crepe silk blouse in gray. I did get the lilac silk tie bow blouse and love it and it matches very well with your soon to be new trousers and I know you have that top, or at least I think you were ordering it?

    2. Yes I did get the lilac silk tie blouse and thinking it would be good with these lovely trousers. Thanks for doublechecking, we shall soon be twinsies. I think a cozy sweater would be wonderful with these or the polka dot silk jammie pants. And comfy but chick ballet slippers. I see that as elegant curled up by the fireplace wear. Oh, be careful of the green ones, I just looked them up, they are not 100% silk but a silk and rayon blend ... The luxe crepe silk blouse is of a more lush silk than the bow blouse, from what I remember.

    1. Hi Mini - this time, J Crew did it right. That is one of the problems for me now - the collection items typically seem of much better quality than the regular items. But then you have to wait and wait for a sale!

    1. Oh I love that Sweater Ina! I saw it in Boston this summer and I thought it was stunning! I bet you will look amazing in it! I think the cords would look great on you and be so festive for the holidays! How cold it it over there this time of year?

    1. Thanks FFM! I sent some much back two weeks ago, and then last night's box was wonderful - lots to model for you all and get opinions on!

  6. I don't even wear crazy pants but you are making me want these pants badly! (Mickey should pay you!) I'm glad J Crew did these right, they are gorgeous.

    1. HA! I told Mickey if he ever wanted a middle aged model from the middle of nowhere with bumps and lumps, I was his girl. He (wisely) chose to ignore my generous offer!!

  7. These are really gorgeous, and I'm so glad they were as lovely as you had hoped. I don't wear many pants, but these are truly tempting, especially as you have assured us it really is tie silk. Hang in there Wendy, and don't worry about any mess. It will get done, so just take care of you. :)

    1. thanks M! They are really love pants! You are right about the mess - it is just mess!

  8. Very pretty. I think a white blouse with a gray or lavender tippi sweater would be beautiful or maybe a light gray turtleneck. Very excited that my brown silky dot pants are on the way after a popback. I caved after reading the good reviews from you and Tiffany Rose.

    1. Oh I am going to post on those silky dot trousers this weekend - I am shamelessly going to recreate Dani's outfit + a couple more! Dani should be assured of her place in the pantheon of fashion greats if we are ripping her off completely now!

  9. They're gorgeous, what beautiful colors. I wondered how they would look in reality as we all know too well those web photos are not very accurate.
Those are some of my most favorite shades!
I like the idea of the flats with them, simple black sweater, done.
I'll be right over with my mop! How I'd love to!
We'll be thinking of you today, xo.

    1. Thanks! Will model the flats and be looking for some feedback! WIll be a long day but we always get through things, don't we? I can tell you that my Molly Maids do not dress nearly as nicely as you do when they clean the house!

  10. FANCY PANTS WMM, glad the MM crew is there to give you a bit of tidy calm, although I too much prefer DBP's outfits and "duster" bag. I'd gladly join the tidying brigade and then bring out the silvery shakers to make rum cocktails for all your visitors tomorrow. (Might set some NB tongues waggin' but we'd have a fine tipple for B. in the trees out back.) All we'd need to offset would be lashing of Tabs' bread basket. Although if I know Maritimers, your fridge and counters are overflowing and groaning at this point too.
Do you have a black Tippi to try with those glorious trousers?
I thought the Tomo was in reference to Japanese artist/ fashion design Sojono (sp.?) Tomo who does outfits for Niki Minaj and is known for her different shades of pink, including her hair. Think young Asian Vivienne Westwood with a Hello Kitty hit.
You and yours are top of mind today. (And look forward to all your try-ons of course!)

    1. GF - I am convinced you know EVERYTHING! of course wikipedia would not know about costume designers!

i do not have black tippi and I think that would be a nice addition. I do have a ca va de soie that may do the trick - will try it with the crazy shoes that match the crazy pants!

more food than we know what to do with, but little appetite. As per your orders I am having a healthy spinach salad and a little blueberry buckle. You must be well familiar with that!

    2. Ah, the best of both worlds between pudding and cake - with a crumbly, crunchy top, yum (and I am not a sweet gal.) Those shoes will resolve the "what shoes do I wear with these pants"??? And don't tell, but my Dad still occasionally calls me Britannica or the less-flattering Sponge, for my trivial nature. Personally, I'm going with my take-off on Dani's wish, un-Martha, since that at least implies more purposefulness and current success.

  12. Some advice - what about the chiffon blouse in the pewter leopard print with these????

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That sounds like something I'd try when I'm in the "too much is not enough" mood. ;) You could try the leopard print to see if they'd work. Since the trousers are so beautiful, a solid color top might be best to keep the focus on them.

  13. What about the Blythe in Iced Lilac? Some of the cashmere sweaters seem to come in that color too. This in case the popcorn sweater doesn't work out for you - the color of the popcorn is Heather Pond - the Collection Mohair sweater comes in that color, too. I don't know about an animal print with the crazy pants, probably too much print, but if you're feeling wild go for it!

    1. I like the Blythe, though I just received the bow neck silk blouse in lilac, so that will suffice - will give it a try tomorrow. I hope the popcorn works as well! I love mohair but it is so itchy!

    2. I got the popcorn sweater and the color is gorgeous and it's comfortable, just a tad short, but I'm going to layer under it anyway so it might be okay with a long layer underneath.

  14. The pants are very pretty and suit your style. I hope the popcorn sweater works I saw it in store and the color is delicate and beautiful but lilac is awful on me. But I think black Tippi would also be perfect.
I found THIS when googling 'tomo pink' (of course I did, you knew I would) and maybe that was the color inspiration.

  15. Too funny - different tomorrow than I got 1st time!

I hope the sweater does work, too!

  16. well look at you. I love these crazy pants. Are they mauve or pink? In the photo they look mauve but the closeup I see pink. Maybe it's my screen . I saw a lilac cashmere sweater by Lord & Taylor at the Bay. Lots of colours and they felt pretty good.
    Sweet dreams tonight
