A JCrew Box to Keep!

I am hoping you all have a peaceful Sunday!

Ours has started out less than peaceful, but that is another story for another day....

Late Friday afternoon, my recent J Crew order arrived.  I must say, I was pleased.  It was a simple JC order, which I have come to believe is the best, and most typically reliable, kind.

I am sharing today as I know the sale is still on and because I was so happy with one aspect of my order, I actually re-ordered two more of the same item!

What did I get?

Twill Minnies in beechwood.  These pants work for me. I know Tabs finds them scratchy.  I typically have sensitive skin, but maybe my own legs are like sandpaper now so I don't notice, but I find them great!

I also ordered the Sera blouse in the dark cove colour (I believe it is now sold out online but watch for it in popbacks) and the featherweight vneck cotton cardigan in the same colour

I wore this outfit on Saturday with my purple medallion ballet flats in the same tomo print as the pumps below.  These also pop back regularly and are therefore worth checking for as they are very comfortable and fun!

Everly printed pumps

I really liked the vneck cardigan - it is the perfect summer weight and goes nicely with shorts and trousers and with dresses.  It also hit me at mid-hip, which is important to me as sometimes the longer v neck cardigans hit half way down my thigh and then I look like a little girl wearing her dad's clothes!

The outfit IRL (not in me - forgot to get a picture yesterday and look a fright this am!)

For some reason, the pants have a yellow undertone in this picture, but they look exactly as shown above in real life.  For those of you who have last year's floral perfect shirt, the cardigan is a nice match.

Because I liked the cardigan so much I went back for two more neutral ones this a.m. while they were still on sale - ivory and black.  Mine from previous years were looking worn and these are 100% cotton and flattering, so I thought I should get them while they were such a good price.

I also got an odd popback this morning - the domino eyelet cafe capri in ivory from last summer sudddenly popped back this morning in my size and for only $40 on sale.  I own the navy version and love them and kept missing the ivory version all last year.

Here I am last summer in the navy capris:

Boy, I do not like that top on me - that may be going into the JCA exchange.  But the capris were flattering and comfortable.  And I wished I had not missed the ivory colour last summer and now I am completely set for spring-into-summer pants.  I already have linen trousers, so it is all good.

This has led me to another topic we will discuss later this week - material.  I have some thoughts and would love yours!  So stay tuned for Wedneday!

I will also post tomorrow on a calvin klein blazer I scored yesterday for a song.

Today is, I hope, a quiet day. Have some laundry to do and some cooking.  Need to phone some friends.  Game of Thrones is also on tonight.  Perfect day!

Have a restful happy one and stay safe out there!

  1. Isn't it nice when the orders all work? I agree those are gret buys. Navy and beige is one of my favorite combinations. Many, many years ago in a Jcrew catalog before it became too stylized, the model was wearing a Jackie twinset with a short pear necklace, beige capri pants, white sneakers, smiling while riding a bike. I was hooked! I bought my first Jackie cardigan and shell in navy (before they added too much Lycra) and beige capri pants. I still wear these every spring and summer. No bike though since I have problems with anything requiring balance. (The only thing I can balance is my checkbook)! Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

    1. That is so great Marie! I was actually contemplating getting out my bike this week! I love the factory sweaters for the 100% cotton, which is why I love these ones, I think! Have a great day!

  2. Hooray for a successful box of goodies Wendy! I think they are all simple and classic, which is why they worked. I have had a couple boxes arrive, and just like you, the simple items are what worked for me. I'm off to the store to make return the rest today. I was able to get those pants (I think same?) in white on a popback this winter for a song as well - excited to break them out when it warms up! :)

    1. I haven't seen them in white yet, but would pick them up for sure if I did!

I think that simple is what works for me for JC - no more trendy - can't seem to manage it...

  3. Treats! Last summer's outfit is a winner, I find the feeling of those trousers to be like wearing a pair of breeks made out of brown paper, I bet Kathy wouldn't be able to wear them either, we are both fabric fuss pots!

    1. Ha! I knew you would think that for hours! I know you have same top, but yours fits better - if Laverne and Shirley don't shrink with weight loss the top needs a new home!

  4. Wendy I've been waiting for you for hours! Woke up at 4am. Your outfit looks great, looking forward to seeing it on and glad you finally have some keepers from online. Tabitha is absolutely right - can't wear those pants. Pretty soon I'll be in tee shirt material only. A real fashionista.

    1. I will be more organized tomorrow!

I didn't know you were like tabs on these - they don't bug me at all, but other materials and things - yikes! I am going to design a line of see thru yoga pants for us that are so comfy.... Oh- never mind! :-)

  5. Great buys, but WMM, my first thought when I saw the pics was that I loved the white top on you with the blue pants. Now, I don't know if it uncomfortable on, but it looks very chic from here. The Sera is such a lovely blue. I tried it on and think it would be pretty with black too. Enjoy your Sunday.

    1. Thanks! I thought it made me look larger than life! I think the sear would be lovely with black as well - it is nice and you can just keep unbuttoning the buttons in the heat or as the drinks and evening progresses...

  6. I also can't wear that material, fussy fussy, but the colour of those pants is really a perfect neutral shade. Love it with the blue and those patterned flats.
Now I want to know why your day started out less than peaceful, I hope all is well and calmed down now! I've had a weird day too, woke up at 2am with a terrible fever, I thought I had the Spanish Flu. It was gone by about 8am thank goodness and now I feel like I'm in a cloud!
I'm on laundry duty today too.

  7. TOP OF THE BOX Wendy I was thinking it had to be something either teenaged or household. Boys will be boys. Trust all is OK now and no permanent damages. Glad you had a happy package. And good to bring your happy momentos of good work home. As you know, I unabashedly love Minnie pants which may be odd since so many things (unlined 120s suiting pants, yes you) set off my crazy itch factor. But I do wash them with Ivory Snow type soap before I wear them, so maybe that helps. Wishing you a serene Sunday for what is left.

  9. Love that blue-- you'll look great in that color. I like the stretch twill minnies, too; they feel less confining than very narrow jeans. I am probably getting the wrong jeans.

Beans soaking for some dish tonight; still winter food mode here.

  10. Great that all of your jcrew stuff worked out.Your right JC does the basics real well, but i still cant resist the trendy stuff:)

I had lots of returns lately, but not because i didnt like it,but because the fit was so off.In one i had to size up and in the next one down.
I wish they would get their sizing right:(

    1. Ina - it is so weird, isn't it? I order two pairs of the exact model of shoes, just diff colours and one pair was at least a 1/2 size larger!
