Finally Friday! Or: Still Making the same mistakes...

Is it just me, or was this a LONG week?

Regardless, I am happy that it is Friday!  When I arrived home last night, there were two JCrew packages waiting for me from the last 30% off sale (takes a while for things to wend their way to Canada..)

I ordered the herringbone capris in grey.  These were a love and I will post a picture of them on the weekend!

I also ordered the minnies in stretch twill in orange:

Minnie pant in stretch twill

Or should I say ORANGE?????

They almost seemed like a neon orange, if there is such a thing.  I know I should know better, but obviously I do not!  Back they will go on Saturday.  I did not even take a picture as they were blinding me with their orange-ness, which says a lot, since my natural tendency is to be as garish as I can be!  I have got to stop being attracted to these colours on my monitor which look nothing like they really are....Damn you J Crew and your ability to trick me!

Thanks goodness the herringbone trousers were fine! I am tempted now to order the hacking jacket that matches...

I shopped the closet today - J Crew navy lace skirt from 2011 and BRnavy cardigan with black lace panel from 2011 as well.    Shopping the closet is a good thing.... I am not sure about the sweater and would like some opinions - it may not survive the purge...

I wore the burgundy boots for the second time this week.  They are awfully comfortable:

I know, this is an odd angle for a photo, but I wanted you to see them close-up.

And the detail on the side:

These boots were made in France by a company called Un tour en ville.  They have a 2" heel and are perfect for walking out!  There appear to be many places in Canada which sell this brand, so assume the same is the case in the US as well.

Finally, one of my guilty pleasures began again last night (don't spoil it for me - had to tape it until I can watch tonight!) - Grey's Anatomy is back.  You can't even make me feel bad about myself for hanging in for so long, through good, bad and indifference...

I like Patrick Dempsey.  So sue... :-)

And now I will join Dani on the porch for Miller time... Oh snap!  Just realized that is 8 hours away...

Have an awesome Friday and stay safe out there!

  1. Oh two inches is my ideal heel height now, so more walking about like a chicken that's been hobbled. Isn't it a crushing let down to have waited for a J Crew box and to know the minute you open it that the colour of something is too crazily garish to even try on?

    1. Oh Tabitha - it almost makes me want to cry! I showed them to my daughter and she said "you can keep them, but you can never, ever, leave the house...

    2. You have raised a very smart child. (I couldn't watch Grey's Anatomy season ender or opener, because it looked like too much carnage/cleaning house. I'll wait until the dust settles, so I can enjoy it with out the heart break.)

  2. I've never heard of the boots brand, but those are cool boots and very unique! It is hard to see the sweater but my first impression is that this is a good outfit, so consider keeping the sweater. You look great. It's that tonal dressing thing we talked about, it really works on you and makes you look taller :)

  3. I also like the sweater, the whole outfit is great.
Love your boots, I'm with Tabs, 2" is perfect. I can wear that size heel all day.
I'll see you on the porch, hmph I wish! Have a great weekend, my husband is working flat out but I get to pack for Paris which will be fun!

  4. MONITOR GOGGLES Ah WMM, sorry about the PTTO (paying to try on) box with Halloween costume or disaster site worker Minnie. The biggest letdown is indeed when the colour is so "off" you don't even remove the plastic packaging. But at least you saw and shared the laugh in it. I'm with the keeper group on the cardigan the monochrome with some texture/ subtle pattern really works for you. And those burgundy books are a stylish, on trend contrast - comfortable to boot.
You and Tabs enjoy your jump on Miller Time - cheers!

    1. Thanks Getfresh! Though burgundy books would be stylish as well!!!!

Oh - disaster site worker Minnie! Don't tell Gayle - she'll style one of the models like that!

  5. Those orange pants hurt my eyes on the monitor! You could wear them hunting though...

Did you know Patrick is from Maine? I don't watch medical shows as that is my day life.

I too like your tonal outfit-- looks good.

  6. WMM, you should keep that sweater. It looks great on you and has just the right amount of embellishment!

Miller Time, sounds good to me :) It was an exceptionally long week.

  7. Cool boots indeed, WMM! I tell you, reading blogs has hugely expanded my awareness of fashion brands - nowadays I'm on the lookout for all sorts of names that I had never heard of just a few short years ago!

    Have a great weekend!

    1. I got them at a small boutique and I am with you - I love hearing about brands that are obscure or not available around here!!!

You have a swell weekend as well!

  8. I really like the sweater, too! Your boots are beautiful, and I love the color. :)

I have seen the J.Crew orange in person, and it is unbelievably bright...reminds me of a safety cone. I really wish J.Crew would show the colors online like they actually appear in person, instead of making them all much more muted. It's no fun to order expecting one color and end up with something so different.

    Enjoy your weekend! :)

    1. Thanks FFM! You have a great post tonight and when I get home tonight, I will have a thoughtful response as I could SO relate!

To be honest, I my monitor made the pants look more like the orange herringbone tweed skirt of a couple of years ago. uh-hu. safety cone is right!!!

  9. I LOVE your outfit!!! It is one of my favorites on you . Tonal blue, great fit and awesome shoes that echo your hair color I always love that especially with darker hair. The color of the minis is awful, who wear that?

    1. Thanks AJC! Actually, I was almost afraid to write my post last night in case someone who drops in DOES wear them, as I would never want to offend anyone!!!!

I should have given a blanket "this is just my opinion, but..."
