Miller Time Friday: Hello World, Here's The Song We're Singing...

.....come on get happy!

I know - I am stuck in the 1970s this week, in anticipation of this weekend's Studio 54 Party.

But apparently, I am not the only one....

Kate Spade is too!

I finally visited the website this am to see the January arrivals, after seeing the lovely scarf that Dani blogged about here.

So while I was looking around at all the lovelies, these little numbers caught my eye:

claudette dress in mondrian

carolina top in mondrian

be art and part of idiom bangle

Well you KNOW what I thought of immediately:

I am pretty sure I still have that album!

I loved the Patridge Family.  And I really loved David Cassidy.  We thought that bus was the coolest thing ever and I remember so many kids with lunch boxes in this graphic print.  I couldn't understand why everyone's families didn't have their own group!  Then I remembered why: no one in my family could sing!

So Kate has resurrected one of my favourite prints.  I think this is now on the list for a visit in March when I am NYC!  I think I love them, isn't that what life is made of?  If you can't tell, I am swaying back and forth.  Of course, I am not holding a bic lighter like we would have in the day.  Just my ipod.

This killed me when I watched it!  Thank God times have changed!  But isn't he cute??????

Dani - you will need to make some more room at Miller Time.  Along with the rest of us here, I think I am going to bring David Cassidy with me...  I am not sure what he drinks, but I am sure you will be able to accommodate him!

Happy Friday everyone!  Stay Safe Out There!

  1. Hi WMM, I am reminded of a story I read recently in a British paper. Some time after 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' came out, David Cassidy wrote to Richard Curtis (the writer) to say how happy he had been to hear Hugh Grant quote him, and he (DC) would like to take him (RC) out for a meal sometime. The article was written by Emma Freud, Richard's partner, here it is:

A very sweet story - let this be an early birthday present from me! :0)

  2. Oh I though Mondrian, I don't remember their bus but I remember him, he was gorgeous but of course Donny Osmond was my boyfriend back then.

    1. Tabs, you thought Mondrian as you have a higher mind than I! All I could think of was David! Was like some kind of Pavlovian reaction! Donny osmond? I also like the younger Cassidy brother and Tony DeFranco. Then skipped on quickly to George Harrison, post- Beatles (and Beatlrs, too, though they had broken up long before) and then to U2 and Elvis Costello.

  3. I had that album and knew the words to every song. I'm afraid we might have a fight over him if you brought him to the party because he was "my" boyfriend. Like Tabs my sister loved Donny. Thanks for bringing back some great memories. I may be humming that song all day!

    1. Hey SC! I will bring his brother Shaun, too, if you like - I am happy to cuddle up with him and relive the 70s! Dani is going to have to put some throw cushions for us all!

  4. Kate Spade used all the same colors you posted yesterday from J. Crew. It's like there was a closed-door fashion meeting and TPTB decided we will all make them wear these colors this spring!

I didn't remember Keith Partridge was so bad-ass lol! They don't make great cheesy TV shows like they used to. Cheers!

    1. Hey Cate! Yes I don't recall Keith being that direct - usually he was so goofy!

Do you think there is a big secret meeting? I am pretty sure it must be presided over by Anna Wintour!

  5. CHERISH Hey WMM, I am with Tabs (Mondrian) and Patricia on the Hugh-Andie Four Weddings scene. When I was doing some work in the UK an old-timer at the Dorchester Hotel told me so many singing girls camped outside when David was there in '72 he couldn't leave his suite and the hotel(s) refused to accommodate him further - so he rented a yacht on the Thames only for the river police to be mobbed with swimmers. Eventually his Brit Pop got so big (a girl even died from one of the concert crushes) that he once flew into Heathrow, did his Top of the Pops appearance from the tarmac and flew straight back. Thanks for the happy Friday bubblegum moment. I'll be back round for Miller Time - do you think Dani would stoop to a shag carpet?

    1. Didn't know that story - amazing!

What - like you don't think she already has shag everywhere? :-)

  7. I loved that show, thought they had the best time - which of course time and tabloids have revealed they actually were not. I also thought Mondrian, but I'm an artist - so that would come to mind first. My lasting crush in those days was Jean Claude Killy. Still sort of is.

    1. Kathy - I wish I could say I thought of Mondrian first like you and GF, but sadly, all I could think about were the Patridges..

Oh I loved Jean Claude Killy. He was SEXY!

  8. Oh my, that pattern looks exactly like the tour bus. :) I was poking around the Kate Spade website last night - the Meri sweater is very cute in the at print. I also really liked the checkered Sadie skirt.

    1. I liked the use of pattern in this month's roll out. I really would pick one piece up for sure. My issue is that shipping for Canada for anything is $49, which I have only done oncce and it hurt! So will wait till I stop in the one in Boston or NYC. I haven't been to the one in NYC - I found the shop in Boston was quite small.

    1. Thanks LR - I really love that dress! I am definitely going to check that one out. I must go see Nordstrom. I got my green fancy pants and back they are going as well. It is getting easier and easier to avoid temptation!

  10. I watch The Patridge Family every day, right after The Beverly Hillbillies. It's on CTS if you get that channel. Both shows are so wholesome, I love that.

The shift is really cute but it would be so dated in a hurry.

    1. Well now I have to go look for it and Dani's classical stretch! I used to love the Beverly Hillbillies!

    2. I saw the Patridge Family dress at KS today. 100% viscose with 100% poly lining, made in China. The worst part is the huge black plastic zipper on the back. It made it look so cheap and awful. The overall shape was pretty boxy as well. Just thought I'd let you know that you are not missing out.

  11. Count me in as a Partridge Family fan (and Beverly Hillbillies, too)! David Cassidy was quite adorable back in the day, but I actually had more of a crush on his half brother Shaun Cassidy. Remember his remake of 'Da Doo Ron Ron'? I still have that 45, believe it or not.

    1. Oh FFM! I had a poster of Shaun over my bed! And that Parker Stevenson, he was so dreamy!!!! But how about Randolph Mantooth!

    2. Oh yes! He was always my favorite on Emergency!, which we used to watch religiously since my father was an EMT/Firefighter. Boy, did they ever have good shows back then, or what? {sigh] The good ole days...

  12. Oh my gosh - I loved David Cassidy. I watched that show and the Brady Bunch every Friday night and Cassidy had me every time he played guitar. I'm right there with you on the Parker Stevenson crush too.
Have fun at the gala...I'll be thinking about you & disco fever :-)

  14. Oh how neat - I love that geo top. Would die to do that dress but sadly my bloppy knees are not up to the task. Did you see that new book by Alison Pearson called "I think I love you" about two Welsh girls in love with David!
