Friday's Miller Time is Brought to you by the Mirrored Floral T

HAPPY FRIDAY!  Isn't it great to have survived the end of the world?  as with everything in this world, we watched it live on TV!  I was ready to pounce on the rum at a moment's notice if need be!

Okay, I know that Dani is very busy with #1 son, so Miller Time is likely to be very haphazard!  Have no fear!  I have mixed  up a tray of pomegranate martinis, with little sticks of rosemary tucked in to be very festive!  So we are all ready to have a lovely weekend!

During the 30% mayhem, J Crew released the Mirrored Floral Tshirt.  Given how many things I have that would match it, I immediately jumped on it as it was so cheap and it became a ride-along, tagging along with a couple of other small things!

I thought it was so pretty!

In realy life the background is well and truly ivory, as opposed to the almost white I seemed to see on my computer screen!

And me this morning, on my first day of vacation:

I am wearing it here with my byzantine blue jackie (so you can see it is slightly lighter, almost a faded version of the byzantine blue), a little silver tree pin, jeans and on old pair of brown shoes I have had for several years.  All very comfy and good, which is great as I got a lot of my wrapping done and the bulk of my christmas food shopping!

Yesterday, J Crew JD asked if pagoda blue was similar to brocade blue.  I took a picture, but I am not satisfied that it is truly representative of the two colours at all!  However, it does give you a sense of the difference of the two colours.

Speaking of blue, I thought I would share a little of the artistic talent of my daughter.  The walls of her bedroom are tiffany blue.  Recently, she bought paints and did some artistry to her walls:

This is a quote by Dumbledore in one of the Harry Potter books.  She loves Harry Potter!  Isn't it pretty?

The second is a tree beside which is a quote by John Green (the author of one the most lauded books of 2012, The Fault in Our Stars (This is a"young adult" book, but I tell you, read it.  It is amazing.  But don't read it over Christmas.  Pick a nice sunny day when you are feeling good.  It is sad, but wonderful).

The tree doesn't normally have lights - they are a Christmas add-on!  As is the cotton-batting below!

See the full tree below:

Isn't this fun?  I think it is neat that she has put two very comforting quotes on her walls!  It took her hours to do and it is lovely!  I would love one in a couple of other spots in the house, but I don't have a quote yet!

In a little while Barry and I are heading downtown for supper as this same child has a household of kids over for a party and we will just be in the way!!!

Have a happy Friday!!!  And stay safe out there - we have a whole other Mayan calendar cycle to get through!

  1. Crack me up yet again Wendy! Those martinis sound properly festive.
Your daughters artwork is so sweet, I can see that she likes reading just like her Momma, surrounding herself with her favourite quotes, what a good idea.
I like that tee on you very much, blue just allows your sparkly nature to shine ever brighter. Have a wonderful dinner out with Barry, that sounds like just the thing. I'm going out with a group of friends for Italian food and wine, I'll try to stay out of tomfoolery but I'm not promising anything. ;)

  2. This child has your wonderful optimistic spirit, we can see.

We are off to one of the Big houses for a cocktail party, then maybe out for dinner or just home for grilled cheese and soup. I hope you have a lovely evening, beginning with those pom. martinis; I've just poured a nice glass of wine to help me deal with my inappropriately-long-for-my-age hair.

  3. I love what your daughter did, so cool and she did a fabulous job! I have that tee and I have a byzantine blue long merino cardigan on the way, so thank you for that color suggestion. "30% mayhem" is apt! I am sorry and relieved that it is over. Phew! Hope you have a great weekend!

  4. Have a lovely weekend! I'm expecting packages, and to my surprise, the white shirts that were supposed to ship mid-January when I ordered them, and went from that status to back-ordered to waitlisted (oh the suspense) those shirts, finally, have shipped! Now I just hope that the boxes actually contain shirts on arrival.

  5. Ok, we are officially twins. I ordered that tee and it arrived today. With a hole along the armpit seam!!! It is pretty but I have a similar one that I like better so I won't bother to reorder.
BTW, I received the beaded mockneck and it is fantastic (definitively for the small-busted).

I love the first quote, I would definitively paint it on my bedroom wall!!!

    1. Ema - I had the same experience with another t last year - luckily this one had one as it would have cost almost as much to return it as it cost to buy it!

I am so excited to see you in the mockneck! I bet you look divine!

I agree about the quote - I thought it was quite inspring!

  6. Wow, your daughter is so sweet. I love what she did!

Thanks for the pic. All it confirmed is that a need a cardigan of each color, ASAP!!! The brocade blue tippi is in my cart. I think it's time to pull the trigger very soon!

I have been baking for the last couple of hours. The brown butter snickerdoodles turned out SO WELL. They are almost too good. Sigh. Good thing I didn't make a double batch.

Have a very Merry Christmas WMM!!!
