Happy Wednesday!
I don't know about you, but I am feeling a bit scattered these days - we have our big party coming up on Saturday night, we have lots of appointments this week and I need to finish wrapping gifts for friends and family.
Let me make one thing clear: I am not complaining! I am exalting in this December, the first December I have not worked 70 hours a week in over a decade. The 30+ I put in on my writing (which I love) does not seem like work at all, so it doesn't count!
When things got a little frantic, it is always nice to wear comfortable clothes, that can, ahem, hide a multitude of sins...
The dress, by Coco+Tashi was bought locally a few months ago and it is SO comfortable. Pair it with warm tights for the -8 temperatures we have been having the last couple of days and voila! You are done:
Not sure you can see, but I'm wearing those calfhair Kikis:
I just love this dress - flattering cut, forgiving, vintage-vibe..
Mostly though, I have been living in cords and tshirts and sweaters. And my trusty UGG outdoor boots:
I bought my variation of these several years ago and I have never been cold. Never. Well, at least my feet have been comfortable...
I continue to embrace comfort and that, frankly, is bringing me a whole lotta joy!
How about you? Are you embracing comfort as you head into the holidays?
And yes, if you spotted a woman in bright red cords, a blue fleece jacket on the walking track, who by mistake started making the "Y" when the song YMCA came on her ipod, yes, it was me...Hangs head in embarrassment...
Have a great day and stay safe out there!

Love your dress and those Kikis!!! gorgeous and very chic choice :-)
ReplyDeleteI think I've missed a whole lot of what's been going on, as I'm totally flat-out at work and home with almost no time to do anything, really.
I'm wearing my summer uniform of a singlet or shell top, skirt and cardigan for when I'm inside in aircon.
It's hot here and I love it!!
Hope your party goes well - are you hosting it?
We have three parties this weekend, two of which (Sat and Sun) we are hosting - why do I do this to myself??!! It's ok, though, they are small dinner parties that won't be too stressful.
ruth - you are a true extrovert! 3 parties would see me in bed under the covers!
DeleteI love this dress and your shoes!!!!! You look absolutely fabulous, as always!
ReplyDeletethanks Rynetta!
DeleteI love that dress!! And I have your boots (in black), aren't they fabulous? They are warm and useful without being that big.
ReplyDeleteCate - they are one of my best purchases ever!
Deletelove your comfy looking outfit. The colours in the dress are lovely. Hope all the parties go well... it's definitely that time of year. I had an early night last night - I'm feeling exhausted and we've still got 2 weeks to go!! xx
ReplyDeleteHeidi - you can't even really hide from it all at home, so I feel for you!
DeleteThe dress is lovely and does look like it flatters the figure but comfy. Yes out tonight and fri so I am friends with espresso lately!
ReplyDeletecoffee is our friend!
DeleteYou look great, as always. Em is on her way home today for her Christmas break. Tyler will follow on Saturday. With Thanksgiving being so late, they literally just left two weeks ago. Have a wonderful party.
ReplyDeletewell tell Em to keep the jokes coming!
DeleteHow can anyone look so fabulous while balancing so many things on her plate? I'm just slightly envious. I actually love winter more than summer (maybe not around February as much as December/January). It finally got freezing here so it was nice to break out all the toasty sweaters, coats and boots.
ReplyDeleteMarie, how can anyone be so nice asking a rhetorical question? ;-)
DeleteWell you would love it around here - has been crazy lately!
Ahh, the comfort of winter clothes... Keep warm! And yes, there's just something joyful and bouncy about YMCA, it gets me bouncing too,
ReplyDeleteI think we should have to spell out all of our favourite songs!!!! think how fit we'd be!
DeleteI love your outfit, the dress is beautiful! It is not very cold over here, but so humid... Yes December has gear up and it is now really necessary to get well organised. I have been pretty busy and that is why I have missed a couple of visits. I have spend Monday 10 hours in my kitchen, kicking of officially the Xmas season with my Xmas baking.
ReplyDeleteWishing you well.
STeph I am so with you - I have got to get organized! 10 hours in the kitchen - wowza!
DeleteLove this outfit, chic and comfy. I've been wearing something similar, my Everlane cashmere tunic, leggings and uggs, while Prepping around the house. Our party is Saturday, and I'm well behind! But I'm finally at a place in my life where it's all good and it doesn't stress me out. The main thing is to enjoy time with friends, and that we'll be sure to do! Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteYou too! We can compare party notes on Sunday!
DeleteYou look cute!
ReplyDeleteI refuse to stress over the holidays. I want to enjoy every bit of it with those that are the center of my heart.
Have a wonderful party! Can't wait for the recap.
A! Best advice of the day! THANKS!
DeleteLOVE that dress. And the calf hair Kiki ballets! As you know I do stress out in the kitchen this last year or so to the point of tears, I'm now on a mission to have ZERO guests until the New Year. I need some quiet time and isn't that what this time of year should be about? Of course my focus is on The Rascals, it will be bliss when Old Rascal arrives home next week and we can just hang out and play board games, have big dinners, watch movies.
ReplyDeleteWish I could walk on the track with you, I'd sing with you!
I love the print, Wendy. And there go the Kikis. Your dream shoe ;)
