Shoesday

There is something profoundly delightful about not wearing socks for the first time in Spring.  There is a giddiness about it that is only matched by the giddiness one feels when one is rewarded by a free dessert at a restaurant or discovers that Ben Affleck is in Cape Breton, a mere six hours away, and probably staying with GetFresh's dad.

EVERYONE has Spring Fever these days.  Even Ben it seems, who is visiting a monastery.  Namaste Ben!

Today was that day.

I sashayed forward in skinny navy trousers, a t-shirt and a jacket and a pair of trusty J Crew Kiki ballet flats - AND NO SOCKS!

Never mind that the backyard is still snow filled.  It was 15 Celsius and the sun was calling to me with the siren call of one who knows that her victim wants nothing more than no socks...

Yippee!!!

I was so giddy that I also purchased a lovely new pair of sandals, having tossed a bunch that had seen a better day...

They have left me for that great shoe store in the sky, and I salute them...

The sandals?  Sam Edelman's GAREN sandals, jewelry for one's feet!
Excuse the chipping on the left big toe...

There is nothing I love so much as a blingy flat sandal.  It is perfection - it can be worn with jeans, dresses, shorts.  You can walk for miles in it (thanks Sam E for the padded sole) and be as happy as a clam.

I cannot recommend this shoe enough!

In other news - the 30th wedding anniversary that we are hurtling towards in September now has a destination.  Paris and Bruges.

More details to come, but flights are booked, accommodation secured, walking and drinking regimen underway.  Please let it be warm enough for sandals....

How about you - bought any shoes lately?

Have a fabulous evening!
xoxo wendy

  1. I share your exuberance, and I too celebrated spring last week with Kikis! However, unwisely, I wore them to work all day, not taking into account the fact that my feet were so used ti socks and boots or Uggs. Oh, the blisters. The new sandals are divine. Paris and Bruges. Congratulations!
Sadly, my shoe collection has grown in proportion to my winter weight gain. It is so much easier to feel good about trying on shoes than it is to enjoy squeezing into jeans!

  2. Yay for Spring!!! Our weather is hot to cold-though no snow so I'm not complaining. Have I bought shoes....why yes!!! I bought these at a boutique in a more camel color, http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/agl-attilio-giusti-leombruni-cutout-leather-oxford-women/3933108?cm_mmc=Google_Product_Ads_pla_online-_-datafeed-_-women:shoes:oxfords-_-1028810&mr:referralID=0524ccf7-e953-11e4-8fa7-001b2166c62d and these http://www.sigersonmorrison.com/view-collection/seley-31.html?color_true=MEDIUM+NATURAL+LEATHER during the F&F discount-they are 1/2 size too big & the replacement is coming next week. LOVE them both-especially since they filled big gaps in my shoe wardrobe.

  3. Hi Wendy, those sandals look so twinkly! My newest shoes are pretty boring - runners and a pair of blue walking shoes. Yes, have been bitten by the fitness bug!

  4. Gorgeous sandals! My only new spring shoes are also new trainers but I have yet to wear my birthday rockstuds. We had hail today, which was grim after a few promising days. I was back in socks. Boo!

  6. Hello Wendy,

Well, your feet certainly seem to be enjoying themselves in their new attire!

The giddiness of the season shines through this post, although how you are managing to be quite so cheerful and bare footed with those wintry temperatures we know not!

We have new shoes in our sights.......'Irregular Choice'.......the name says it all! And, from a shoe shop called 'Imelda's' in Norwich.......perfect!

    1. Jane and Lance - 15 celcius is balmy here - people were out in shorts! It has returned to only 3 celcius today, sigh...

      Irregular choice - love that!

  7. Happy Feet! I've not gone sockless yet and our snow has finally left; we may get a few daffodils by the weekend ( we have hundreds of them).
I bought my second pair of Naot Eteras, the most comfortable sandal I own and not clunky looking at all. I can do miles in these and will in Italy this fall.

    1. Only a few shoots here... I am off to look at those Naot Eteras, although I have no idea if Paris is cool or warm the last two weeks of September - have only been there in the summer!

  8. I love sandals in general, so can't wait until its warm enough for them here! I love your new sandals. I saw them back in March and decided to think about getting them and they sold out in one day! I keep checking back, buy they haven't restocked. They are so pretty!

    Your anniversary trip sounds divine!

Scroll thru John Talbot's blog for good restaurant ideas, see also Paris By Mouth.

As I'm pecking this out on my iPhone Himself is playing with air fares on the "big" machine. Wouldn't it be fun to overlap? We don't have dates yet, we go when the mileage works best.
    Hugs--

  12. Yes, ditching the socks is a so great feeling!!! I love those sandals, they are really pretty. I haven't bought any shoes lately, my feet have become so picky, it is nearly annoying!
Sorry for not being present, there are many, many things on going as I am working on major life changes.
I hope your writing is going well.
You will adore Bruges! It is a wonderful city, everything is really beautiful.
I wish you a fantastic weekend.

  13. Those bling sandals are worthy of a whistle. I am very tired of wearing socks and boots but it is cold again here so we have no choice. I live in my Aigle tweed boots, they are warm but they are NOT winter boots!
