The view out my bedroom window. I live in a glorious tree house! |
It is a beautiful fall day here. The perfect day for a Thanksgiving celebration!
What am I most thankful for? Besides my family and my friends, I would have to say that I am most thankful for the opportunity to pursue a creative life. It has made me a very content person. And really, being content is what it's all about, isn't it?
So, the turkey is in the oven
2 more hours till golden time... |
The pies have been made
Apple. Isn't my bluebird sweet? And that is a little heart in front of him |
Pumpkin pie, completely from scratch I confess I have used canned pumpkins in the past.. Those are spaniels on top - don't ask why! |
I have added the remnants of the garden to my store bought tulips
can there ever be too many flowers? Not in Wendy's world... |
And the cook is decked out in her new Brynn Walker outfit and new Anne et Valentin glasses.
Byrnn Walker - made in the USA! Anne et Valentin - made in France. How multicultural of me! |
last year's kikis work very well... |
ruching details on the dress Mostly I will wear this with boots... |
I am ever reminded of how fortunate I am to live in a country that is generally safe, to live in a province that is friendly and beautiful and to have food on the table and clothes on my back.
We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.~Thornton Wilder
Have a lovely Monday all, and happy thanksgiving to my Canadian friends!
xoxo wendy
Happy Thanksgiving from Victoria BC!
ReplyDeleteLove your shoes....you look happy and relaxed hosting your dinner. I usually wear my linen apron until the doorbell rings and then when I am back in the kitchen getting the food out of the oven and on the table.
The best bonus of a big Turkey I think....Turkey sandwiches the next day!
Thanks! And I am looking forward to those sandwiches, too!
DeleteWow your outfit is amazing! Your table looks so pretty and how perfect that the new upholstery was done in time.
ReplyDeleteI was so frazzled getting our dinner out yesterday that I didn't even remember to take off my apron. My stove is down to one working burner and Scout was being overly friendly with my in-laws (as in nearly knocking them over, that Scout is up to 60lbs heaven help us!)
You are reminding me to be thankful for being able to serve Thanksgiving dinner at all, though I have to say I'd rather be at your house just now!
Have a wonderful day Wendy :)
Ah, but think of what a dream it will be next thanksgiving!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and yours. The fall colors look spectacular. Love the pies and all your decoration. Eat til that tummy's full.
ReplyDeleteThanks T! Stomach definitely full!
DeleteHave happy Thanksgiving, Wendy! It look slike you will have a nice feast. I had mine last night, complete with pumpkin cheesecake.
ReplyDeleteI love pumpkin cheescKe! Haven't made it in so long!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving Wendy. You are absolutely gorgeous. I love your outfit, your glasses, very pretty. You Thankgiving table is beautiful and I like your plates. I only have one set of plates, which I use all year long... I miss that Thanksgiving is not part of our culture. It is nice from time to time to stop and look at what we have and be happy with it.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous from top to bottom! Those leaves up top are the most beautiful shade of red that only mother nature can get exactly right. I agree there can never be too many flowers. Just as I suspected Mr Chessie's handiwork on those beautiful chairs work perfectly with the runner.Turkey, apple and pumkin pies check, check, and check and then you stick the landing with a perfect outfit ?!
ReplyDeleteThis is an embarrassment of riches!!!
Thanks! I am sorry to see them done for the season here - back to the grocery store blossoms!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving, Wendy!
ReplyDeleteI love your new outfit and glasses - they are so cool!
You're right that being content is one of the best things one can achieve, especially these days when there's so much stuff floating around to make us doubt our contentedness!
Thanks Ruth! Happiness is more ephemeral to me than contentment, so am hitching my wagon to that star for my even keel!
DeleteThose glasses are fabulous on you!!! Bravo you. I love your whole outfit. A wonderful looking table and yes, why the spaniels on the pumpkin? It will taste fabulous! I always use canned pumpkin. Happy Thanksgiving Wendy! xoxo
ReplyDeleteJennifer, they were the first cookie cutter I spied!
DeleteGlad you like the glasses - my others were getting old and wanted something a little more out there but flattering! The pie was amazing - even better!
A very Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Wendy! You look fabulous, as does your table, and I love the added decorations to your pies. The color of the leaves on the tree in the first pic are my absolute favorite...you are a very lucky woman to have them right outside your bedroom window. Enjoy your day, and all that delicious food you've worked so hard to prepare! :)
ReplyDeleteA very very Happy Thanksgiving to you. You look wonderfully French salon and a natural and colorful table and Turkey is my favourite. I get the impression you are a naturally happy and grateful kind of person, a person who other people love to be around.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jody - I think it depends on the day....
DeleteHappy thanksgiving! Is it always on a Monday? Nice to give thanks snd be reminded of things like this... Hope you had a great day.
ReplyDeleteYup - always the 2nd monday in October. harvest is pretty much over here in Canada now!
DeleteYou set a fine table! Love the spaniels on the pie. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a good one, too, Barb!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving Wendy! Your table is so inviting as has a beautiful home feel to it. No doubt great memories are made around that table!
ReplyDeleteI love your pies! Nothing beats a homemade desert!
:)
A - I am with you on pie! Pie, pie, pie!
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving Wendy! Your table looks wonderful. I'm glad you pointed out the animals on the pumpkin pie were dogs - I had thought they were lions, and was trying to work out what they had to do with Canadian thanksgiving!! Although I'm still a little puzzled…!
ReplyDeleteFirst cookie cutter I found! I never worry about the details!
DeleteHappy (belated) thanksgiving! I hope you did not cook in that lovely outfit! I think Tgiving is my favorite holiday, but we have to wait sooo long for it here.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Thanksgiving. I've been too filled with turkey to read! Love the glasses. My last pair were A et V. Wonderfully made. Now, I'm into trifocals and was so dumbfounded at that idea that I just grabbed a pair of frames from the optometrist.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Thksgvg - we've been on the road and to say internet access has been sporadic would be to flatter it.
ReplyDeleteYou look like a little girl playing house. A happy, contented little girl.
