We interrupt Wendy's Vacation to Discuss Other Pressing Matters...

Plus I am kind of lazy about downloading photos.

Random pressing matters:

1) Scottish vote!

Betfair pays out early on Scottish independence 'No' vote

Cannot speak with any credibility on this.  I go where Tabs goes, which is Nay I believe, but I do have sympathy for the yays as well.  Will be watching the returns to night with much anticipation!  The McLeod family motto is Hold Fast, which I think supports either side, depending upon how you  want to argue it, but as a highlander, I suspect we would be in the YES camp...

2) George Clooney's wedding

The couple stayed close during their first public outing in Italy, ahead of their wedding in the coming days.

I will be receiving cards of condolences, bottles of wine (WHAT?  We aren't living in the Godfather movie???) and sympathy as my boyfriend takes himself off the market.  She's all right I guess, if you like those beautiful brainy types.  I'll just have to learn to get along with her when we are all on the yacht together...

Apparently, her parents are paying for the wedding.  Well that explains everything.....

3) The Skirt

I have waited a long time to fall in love and as you know, have all but banned prints from my wardrobe, but I am awaiting this:

Get yours here (or not!)
We hold little hope, but some.  Have not loved a print so much since the Giverny print of 08.  We shall see.  Heart has been broken before...

4) the pants

Ordered the pants below and am crazy about them.  Banana Republic was in my bad books after many poorly executed items, but these are perfection!  And they were on sale!  Comfy fall pants - check!

Sloan-Fit Zip Pant
Sloan fit zip pant - I have a thing for zippers at ankles.

5) the shoes

I bought the following at the J Crew in Calgary:

Georgie suede tassel loafers
Georgie suede tassel loafers in vintage red,
which oddly enough, like modern red, has a decidedly orange-y undertone...

6) The sweater

I bought the following from Free People about 6 weeks ago and began wearing it today.  LOVE!

Slouchy Cowl Pullover

Striking same image around the house....

We will now return to our regularly scheduled programming!

stay safe out there! xoxo wendy

  1. Love randomness! I will answer in order:

    1) We are also waiting with much anticipation, and feel sympathy for both sides.

    2) OH NO!!! I hope you are not too devastated by the news, but anything can happen really. Nothing is official until they say I Do, afterall!

    3) Will be awaiting your review. The print is not for me, but you wear the pencil skirts and prints so well...hope it turns out to be all you are anticipating and more.

    4) Nice! Are you able to tuck them into boots with the zippers at the ankles? Skinny pants and my hips/legs are not friends unless a pair of knee boots is present to negotiate a temporary truce.

    5) How lovely...did you get anything else while you were there?

    6) Love it! Hope you'll share a pic of it on you soon!

    1. Hey Melissa! So happy it was a no vote! As for the BR pants, am sure no problem for high boots and short as zipper goes up quite high. I am either in skinny or very wide. It is the middle part of me that requires serious draping! The only other thing I bought was a pair of earrings that were inexpensive. Our chair reupholstering and new hardwood steps to the 2nd floor appear set to eat all my money!

  2. Well the vote is in. George is off the market...sorry, he couldn't wait around forever for you. Wear that printed skirt loudly and proudly. From Audrey's blog and your lovely pick, Banana Republic seems to be having a good hair day this fall. I saw you pin the hell out of the loafer on Pinterest. So that was a given. Love the relaxed, sassy look of the sweater. My girls do very well in cowl necks too. Have a wonderful weekend.

    1. T - the sweater is made for the likes of us because it is drapey in all the best ways! I have developed a love affair with Vera moda for the same reason. I want drape!

  3. Did you hear the rumor that George will make an appearance on Downton Abbey this season? It is rumored he will make a one-off appearance as an American wedding guest, so you could pretend he is still single? Love that Free People top! And great pants are always great to find. Not sure how I feel about the Scottish vote. I can see both sides.

    1. Cate - I understand he shot his scenes week before last. Great pants are a miracle. Not as miraculous as a great bathing suit however. That is the unicorn of my wardrobe!~

    2. I may have solved the great bathing suit dilemma. J. Crew's 5" board shorts! Worn with any swim top or bottom (got to have some bottom underneath). They make me feel thin even when I'm not.

    3. is there an option for NOT a bikini top with them? I am not baring my belly (or bellies some days!) to anyone!

    4. Sure... wear any tankini top with them. I'm not bearing mine either!!!

    5. That would be "baring" oops.

  4. I bought my first Sloans from BR yesterday in True Navy. The SA recommended to size down since it will stretch, but based on the 300+ on line reviews, it stretches out but never too baggy. So who knows? I love that pencil skirt you picked and I wished that print came in a scarf. Wouldn't that be lovely? Let us know what you think of the Sloans.

    1. Wendy - I am unsure of the skirt - but thought it worth a try and completely agree with you on the idea of a scarf. I will take a pic of me in the sloans - really like them - they are so comfortable - they blow the minnies and pixies out of the water for me!

    2. I have to agree with you again about the Sloans being better than the Minnies. I have the bi stretch wool Minnies and I love them; just wished they came in more colors. The cotton twill Minnies are horrible! I keep hearing how they stretch several sizes so by the end of the day, it looks like wearing a sack! I love how semi thickness of the Sloans. Although fitted, it won't show every nook and cranny on your lower half! haha...

  5. I bought three pairs of those BR pants at the last F&F sale. Love them! Adore that skirt. Very Vermeer chic. Happy about Scotland. My English neighbours were flying the UK bunting this morning. Sorry about George. He was never my type. If Steve Coogan remarries however, you will hear weeping and gnashing of teeth!

    1. I have a little soft spot for Steve myself!!!! I tried to order an extra pair but my size was gone, so am trying the moto version - we shall see! In the meantime, will keep checking back, though BR doesn't seem to have the issue of popbacks as JCrew!

    2. He's lovely. Philomena hooked me but Trip to Italy sealed the deal. Not a bad substitute for your George and you can still all get together at Lake Como

  6. I've never been a fan of pattern so I'll watch your progress with interest. I like them on other's but can't get over feeling like I'm wearing a pair of Granny's old drapes. Maybe because I'm old:). I've just been perusing the BR sale myself but their fit model has a totally differnt shape than I do so can't wear any of their pants:(

    1. Jennifer, I have all but eliminated pattern as well, so I am very nervous and not particularly hopeful! It will either be spectacularly lovely or a hot mess!!!!
