Style Wednesday - Nougat London

Hi all,

I would not presume to post on Brora or The Rose - my pals Dani and Steph do that better than I ever could!  But there is a mid-priced British Line that I like very much - Nougat London - so I thought it would be fun to share some things I like in their fall line.

I have a few Nougat pieces that I love:

The silk and knit dress
The glittery cardigan
The special dress I bought for Barry's 50th...
My pink meringue confection
and peasant top

What I love about Nougat London is the small touches that make the piece special.  There is a timeless and vintage vibe to their pieces, but they do not cross the line into costume.

I have been so sad this fall, because the local shop that carried Nougat has gone out of business; I may be forced to throw myself on the company's mercy to find online shopping here in North America!

I got an alert on Facebook this morning that most of their Autumn/Winter line is now available online.  You can visit the whole line here, but my favourites are the following:

The Lavinia Vneck Dress, so softly autumn...

The Crepe Dress with Pleated Neck details is like something Anne Shirley would have worn in Anne's House of Dreams:

The Sybil batwing top in peacock would be so lovely with a plain skirt:

The jacquard dress is so chic:

as is the pencil skirt, which has pockets!

I love the sweetness of this camisole:

and the simplicity of the jersey crepe de chine wrap top:

And how lovely would the following knits be for the holiday season?

And this dress isn't online yet (but they show it on their blog) and I think it loves me...

Aw - who am I kidding?  I'd buy pretty much the whole line and perhaps when I am a famous authoress visiting London, I will!

Until then, I will scheme to find pieces here in Canada!

Do you own any Nougat London?  Do you like the line?

Hope you have an awesome Wednesday - stay safe out there!

    1. Sorry AB! When you go visit the web, you will see so much more to love! it is very nice and there are plainer things than what I chose as well!

  2. Love the pencil skirt! I'd never heard of Nougat London before visiting your blog, Wendy!
    They make some lovely things!
That dress you're wearing in the first pic is divine!
I've just had a look at the new arrivals on the J Crew site, and apart from a wool a line skirt that I will have zero use of for the next 7 months or so there I absolutely nothing I like.
Just as well, it being hot here!

    1. I went over to look this morning, too - nada for me either. I did order barry and my son some new trousers yesterday on the 40% off but that has been it. I am still contemplating the snow cashmere tshirt, as I have always wanted one, but that may be a Christmas present! Yay for the heat, though - it is getting cool here!

  3. I do like Nougat, I have one of their dresses hanging in my wardrobe waiting for Summer. I love all the embellishment, and I think all of those pieces are very 'you'. I've bought online from the UK before (and used a reshipper) as it's hard to find their things here in Australia too. xx

    1. Heidi - thanks for the heads up about the reshipper! Their website says they will also work with you on shipping, so I might have to throw myself on their better selves. I am checking to see if there is any place near that sells them, but I think the closest is an hour or two away and hard for me to get to these days!

  4. You look so pretty and festive in your Nougat pieces! I love the holiday knits as I can see those working for me. ;)

    1. Tiffany Rose - there is a lovely sequin sweater..... I was all in a dither yesterday over the new long sequin skirt from Anthro - but where the hell would I wear it? Nowhere. Maybe to do the laundry?

  5. I'm not familiar with the line, but the glittery cardigan and the Barry-50th-birthday dress are fantastic. For my embellished/vintage-y/glittery/critter-y needs, I tend to turn to Anthropologie, but I do always wonder if I have aged out of it.

    1. Oh no - if you have aged out, what of the rest of us! I love Anthro, but a lot of things are too boho for me or too retro. It is always a hard balance, isn't it. I love Nougat though - I never find it cutesy at all and that is the key for me - I am cute enough as it is. No one is ever going to describe me as patrician...

    2. Hehehe, me neither, my friend -- I come from peasant stock and proud of it!

  6. Their clothing is so pretty, it's amazing what is out there that I have never really heard of. I think your girls would love the crepe de chine wrap top.

    1. I think my girls would too! WOnder if they sell it in NYC! I am trying more and more to find different brands and good quality ones at that!

  7. I got a catalogue from them and they nice easy stuff. I love the jersey wrap top, pencil skirt, and the crepe dress in that olive color. But I still am on a clothes embargo - spending all my squids on home stuff so it will have to wait! Love that dress you wore for Barry's 50th you are glowing in it.

    1. Thanks CSW! I looked much better on the actual night - I had my hair and makeup all done right and wore black tights, which looked great! I can't wait to wear that dress again!

  8. I think these are so you too, this is you at the source of your ontological being!

    1. You know what I love about you? It is that you know I have an ontological being! I know it is! They need me to be the middle-aged face of Nougat London! Aren't these places tired of those svelte young models???? I truly do love this stuff! When I come over to buy it all, I will bring you with me - you can sip bourbon and advise whether or not is a "statement" piece or not! :-)

  9. I don't think we have a store here in NYC and haven't tried one. I love that dress you wore to Barry's 50th and everything in that last picture with the green florals and long cardigan. How are the fabrics? I have stopped buying anything with a blend (polyester, rayon, viscose, nylon, etc.) in it.

    1. Marie, my pieces are cottons and wools and silk. I assume some pieces have some poly in them, but haven't seen them in person, so not positive.

  10. The smile on your face in the photos with Nougat say it all WMM. When clothing makes you this happy, it is obviously made for you.

  11. So pretty! Love that pink dress of yours. :)

  12. Hi Wendy, this line really suits you, I can understand how upset you were when your local shop closed. I hope you can work something out with them re. shipping.

My very favourites on you are the Barry dress and the peasant top - just there I can see that they can fulfill the gamut of all your fashion needs!

    1. Patricia - I may have to do a road trip to Ontario to find a shop there!

    2. Wow, I can't believe this, but I've just seen that a store in our downtown sells Nougat London! We're going to a restaurant next door tonight - unfortunately, the store closes at 4.30 pm, but I'll lick the windows!!

  13. I don't own any of their pieces, but your selection is lovely. I like very much this crepe dress and I also like very much the two dresses you own. Does Nougat not have an online store with international deliveries? That could be one option... It is sad that your local store has gone out of business... I think we are in rough times...

    1. They have an online store, but it is really for EU and UK deliveries. But I will figure it out! I am nothing if not intrepid!

  14. Well, you should be one of their models. I was not familiar with this line.

Just got a 20% off email from Garnet Hill for the Eileen Fisher washed linen sheets!

    1. Oh good for you! No sheets for me this fall, sadly. I am shopped out till Christmas. I miss the good old days...

    2. I'm not getting any either, yes, the semiretired thing, but didn't know if you were interested. Think of all the time we have though.

  15. I love your picks Wendy. I've never tried Nougat. Well maybe Nougat candy but that's another post entirely. The sweater with Peter Pan collar is adorable but you must find and way to get that last dress with the green long cardigan sweater. I think it would suit both your style and your coloring.

  16. I agree with Shopping Celle that you must! have that last dress and cardigan!

  17. The picture of you all dolled up for Barry's 50th is just the icing on the cake. i hope you have it in a picture frame as I've never seen you look better.
The last outfit is the winner. i think you would get tons of wear out of it. It looks so Wendy.

  18. Love seeing their things, thanks! I have never seen any of their line in person. I like it when a company makes some unique pieces along with good staples. I'm probably too lazy to hunt it down, but I do like what you've worn and shown here.

  19. These pieces are stunning - that top one is something out of Great Gatsby, love them all and esp that last peasant top, you look ready for a stroll down the Seine! What a great line, I've never heard of it, each piece is so individual, you have me hooked.
