Miller Time Friday: Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh the Weather outside is frightful....

whoops, wrong holiday...

Never mind, it's Valentine's Day, which means that it is 29 years ago tonight that Barry and I had our first date.  We went to a jazz night at the UNB Faculty Club, which seems funny now, as we weren't faculty...

scene of crime...

Well luck favours the brave and we have been together ever since...

This will be a quiet year.  Between the storm and the upcoming trip, we deemed it best to make a nice meal at home (quail), have some nice wine and some good chocolates.  You can't complain about that!

A little poetry doesn't hurt on Valentine's Day and we might as well go to the gold standard, old Will himself...

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate;
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date;
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm’d;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature’s changing course untrimm’d;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander’st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee

I plan to don a little red, a little pink and the new scarf Barry just gave me that is stamped with little hearts.  Oh and Dani - you will be pleased to know I have irish cream filled chocolates - I know you are writing prescriptions for the like these days, Dr. B-P.

You needn't be in a couple to celebrate the day.  Some of the greatest loves of my life are my family and friends and of course myself!  We all have to love and honour ourselves, don't we?

So Happy Valentine's Day to you all, dear friends, with a special shout-out to my Valentine, Barry - Love you!

Oh and Indy wishes you a happy day as well...

In honour of Valentine's Day, we really must have a drink...

Besame (Kiss Me)

2 lime wedges
5-6 raspberries
1 ½ oz. Agavero
Passion fruit juice
Chambord
Garnish: rock candy swizzle stick

Muddle limes and raspberries in a highball glass, add Agavero and top off with passion fruit juice. Add a splash of Chambord, pour mix into a shaker filled with ice. Shake well, strain back into the highball glass, and garnish with a rock candy swizzle stick.

Have a LOVE-ly day and stay safe out there!

  2. Happy hearts day to you and Barry. That's our plan tonight too. I'm not into big gestures on this day. As long as my husband takes out the trash regularly and does the school runs when I can't, I'm a happy girl.

    2. Oh, the guilt! I am almost out of the snow zone. Yes I think a foot at least! Poor MLane.

      We like to stay in for V day, too. Otherwise, we end up analyzing every couple in the room. I think this is our first Vday apart.
