It's not all about the medals, though they are nice...

Happy Thursday!

I admit to being an Olympic fan and have been enjoying these games, despite my initial ambiguity.

That said, I can't help but share the following tribute that Buzzfeed put up about Canada this morning:

http://www.buzzfeed.com/tanyachen/heartwarming-ways-canada-has-already-won-the-winter-olymp

Yes, we're Canada.  And yes, we like being nice....

Oh and completely off topic, I saw the Jason Wu/Hugo Boss show last night and swooned when I saw this:

I love him...

The clothes were good too, especially this dress:

Hugo Boss RTW Fall 2014

and this one:

Hugo Boss RTW Fall 2014

Now I just need a book launch to wear something like this to!

Have a great day!  Stay safe out there!

  1. Canadians have always been endearing. Take the chick out of the picture and I'll swoon too. Stay safe and warm and remember the booze may have to last a few days so drink responsibly. Oh, watched Enough Said las night. It was quite endearing also.

  3. i have not watched the Olympics but am very happy with the Canadian showing. Nice dress but an author said the dress needs to stand out in a sea of black during the book launch. Not that you will have any problems with your personality shining like a beacon.

  4. OH Sherlock.
Am anxiously awaiting news of your tour. I need an excuse to wear some fripperies and finery, although, sadly not Hugo, Oscar or Jason...
I would be happy to help you pick one out, however!

    2. It only takes one!. I went to a speech at my son's school a few years back and listened to Dan Gutman, children's author extraordinaire. He showed us the first 100 rejections he received! I am crossing my fingers for you...

    1. Yes, indeed. Both of my paternal grandparents were born in Canada to expat Americans. My great-great grandfather was the Damon Runyon of Canada for the first half of the 20th Century.

  13. Hugo Boss is very popular here in Luxembourg... I have tried some clothes for woman and I have been disappointed by the quality. Now, they have several brands and may be I bought the cheap one... I also found that you really need to be a model to wear their clothes...

    1. Steph, I have found you need to be a model to wear a LOT. Of clothes, sadly.... :-)

  14. Congrats on getting a full manuscript request! Every little bit is something to be celebrated, I think.I guess from the pics above it looks like the midi-skirt will still be sticking around for a little while. A rather unfortunate style on me.

    1. Thanks! Is quite a process - try to find lit agent, they try and find you a publisher.....

I am with you on the length unless it is proportioned perfectly!

  16. Hi ,
Hope your vday dinner was yummy! I have a question for you. Did you order the Campbell Capri in wave? If so did the fit well and was the color and pattern what you expected? Thought I remembered you chatting about them however I could have the wrong person in mind. Memories not what it used to be! Was thinking of ordering them during the sale. Thx Wendy

    1. I did, but am sending them back. I ordered regular, but at 5'2", I really needed petite for it to swoosh at the bottom! my complaint is that they hit at a funny place in the waist and seem to want to accentuate my muffin top (!) so they are less flattering at the waist than the café capris, but I liked the way they hit at the bottom. They were a great print and when I am south I may go up a size and see what I think. I am worried that a size larger in the waist will make my bottom, thighs and hip swim. sigh... Hope that helps!!!!
