Random Saturday Musings

Hi all!

Hope your Saturdays are going to (or were in your case, Ruth!) be filled with a lot of good times and relaxing times.  Lots to chat about this week!

1) We are going to have babies!

No, silly - not me.  These old eggs are on the way out...  But our lovely xoxo is going to have twins!  I haven't been this excited since Gigi had her long-awaited bundle.  I am looking forward to xoxo's pregnancy, cause you just KNOW that she is going to be uber-chic and stylish and it will be fun to watch!  Most importantly, this is something she has been wanting for a long time, so many heartfelt congratulations.  I loved being pregnant, despite being ill, and our girl xoxo is going to do smashingly!

2) Sofia Coppola

You know I love Sofia!  She is so cool and chic and smart!

So imagine my delight when I saw that the Wall St. Journal's WSJ Magazine had an article today on her favourite things

I love the idea of taking the time to think about and curate a small number of one's favourite things.  I may do a post on this in the near future and will be of course interested to her yours!  Oh Sofia - love your choices - so personal, so YOU...

3) Ben Affleck as Batman

Yesterday's announcement that Ben Affleck will be playing Batman in the upcoming Superman-Batman movie was the online equivalent of a cold shower.  The shock was palpable.  I like Ben okay, not sure he isn't too old to be Batman though.

But honestly, how could this be worse than this:

4) Madonna Gets Grills

Our friend Coulda Shoulda Woulda wrote a great post on this.  I can't say it better.  However, I will repeat the comment I made there: Madonna was supposed to be the cool chick, the trailblazer.  Wouldn't it have been interesting if she would have skipped the plastic surgery and chasing questionable trends and kicked the hell out of aging in a natural way like these women:

Patti Smith

Stevie Nicks - yes, you looks 60, but she is 60...

Nancy Wilson
I can SEE all of these women's former selves in the pictures above.   And yes, they may have had a bit of work.  But still.  I am finding it harder and harder to find the Madonna of my youth...

I know, I know - she's a chameleon.  I know that she's a woman working in an industry that wants all women to look like they are 21.  And I am hoping that the grills were just done to get us all talking about her in a shocked and appalled way.  Please God, let that be the reason.  Cause if she thinks they look good...

5) What Maisie Knew

We rented this movie last night and I cannot recommend it enough.  Based on the Henry James novel of the same name, it is a contemporary re-telling of the novel, in which self-absorbed divorced parents all but abandon their daughter in their desire to stick it to one another and pursue their own desires.

The cast is excellent, but the little girl who plays Maisie, Onata Aprile, is the true star and she delights you and breaks your heart throughout.  I highly recommend this!

Well that's it for today!  Have an awesome Saturday!  We are off to have dinner with friends tonight - folks we don't know too well, so it should be an interesting evening!

Stay Safe out there!
