I am fighting a cold today, so perhaps my immune system is down for the count (Tabs - can those germs be passed via telephone wires?) and therefore my generally sunny disposition is slightly overcast, but I have decided that I am officially off any food, drink or health advice.
Yesterday, while cleaning out the fridge I was listening to the TV.
It turns out that:
It is all too much and too confusing, isn't it?
Yesterday, while cleaning out the fridge I was listening to the TV.
It turns out that:
- sugar will kill you
- wheat will kill you
- eggs will kill you
- alcohol will kill you
- too much water/too little water will kill you
- dairy will kill you
- meat will kill you (and someone else first!)
- certain vegetables will kill you
- Bananas and Carrots should be reserved for holy days
- Too much sex will kill you
- Too little sex will kill you
- Negative emotions will kill you (uh oh)
- The sun will kill you
- Asteroids could kill you
- Cell phones will kill you
- Anything cooked will kill you
- Anything raw will kill you
- Chemicals will kill you
- Bacteria that the chemicals are designed to kill will kill you
- Religion and Spirituality will kill you
- Non-Believing will kill you
- Red wine is good/red wine is bad
- Fat makes you fat/fat makes you skinny
- Carbs make you fat/carbs make you skinny
- Shopping is good for the economy/Shopping is bad for the economy and the planet
Then I had a bright idea!

Forget all of the advice!
It is going to change next week/next month/next talking head anyway!
It reminds me of the old saying that used to get passed around via email:
An Irishman's Philosophy
In life, there are only two things to worry about— Either you are well or you are sick. If you are well, there is nothing to worry about,But if you are sick, there are only two things to worry about— Either you will get well or you will die. If you get well, there is nothing to worry about, But if you die, there are only two things to worry about— Either you will go to heaven or hell. If you go to heaven, there is nothing to worry about. And if you go to hell, you’ll be so busy shaking hands with all your friends You won’t have time to worry!
So, just for today, here is my advice, which you should all take with a grain of salt:
- Always choose the happier route
- Eat what you want, just not too much, and try to eat some fruits and vegetables
- Cook your own food if you can
- When you eat, be thankful for the food, and the field or animal that created it, and the person who got it to you
- Wine is your friend
- Surround yourself with people who love you for you and who like you and who treat you like gold - everyone deserves to be treated like gold
- Tell the truth as you know it, but sometimes, you should keep your mouth shut
- Be joyful and kind and curious
- If something doesn't feel right to you, it isn't right for you. That is different than something being hard - lots of hard things are good for us and teach us
- if the aliens/asteroids/zombies or sickness come - put on your nicest outfit, your most uncomfortable but beautiful shoes, some red lipstick and place that big order to Neiman Marcus that you always wanted to place - hello couture - and remember - there was a reason why they gave soldiers rum rations in the war! As my son always used to say to me and once famously drew: Never forget who you are general!
That's me. No comments on riding crop, please...
Thought I would end by sharing a picture of the underbelly of a little dragonfly visitor to my screen door last night. The pattern on his wings reminds me of semaphore flags. Perhaps he had a message for me: "Wendy - eat and drink what you want!" Thank you dragonfly, I will...
Have a great Thursday and stay safe out there!
