I can't remember the last time I had a review, but am putting these up ASAP before the 25% off sale ends...
I was so excited to get the Dutch Floral Pencil Skirt. Such a beautiful print!
So moody, perfect for autumn.
But the skirt was voluminous on me:
This would involve a major reconstruction... |
That's the material bunching up when I look down! |
Look at all the extra material out the back! |
And me yanking 1/2 yard of fabric at the back... |
It makes me very sad to return it. It would need MAJOR alterations, which I would perhaps be willing to do if it wasn't full price and if I was guaranteed it would fit perfectly, but neither of those things are true! Back it goes... sigh..
I did keep its ride-along - the Harper black suede scalloped flats. I tried these on out in Calgary, but chose the Georgies below. J Crew was kind enough to put them both on sale and I got a refund of the full price I'd paid for the Georgie and put it towards the Harper. So comfy and very nice!
I went up 1/2 size from my usual 6H.
I am really loving the Georgie loafers I purchased at the store out west!
Dani - recognize this silk shell???? |
I was tempted to buy the Harpers in Calgary, but Barry loved the loafers best, so that's what I got. Again, I went up to a 7 in these!
So, 2/3 isn't bad, though I sure wish the skirt had worked! I really need that sewing machine so I can start making my own!
Hope this helps someone! Have a great day and stay safe out there! xoxo wendy
Thanks for these reviews!!!! I love the Harper Flats! By the way, you've got mail!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rynetta! I do love the Harper flats!
DeleteThe colors in that print are beautiful. I wonder if you got a bad cut on the skirt, or if that's going to be how it fits. I haven't seen it yet. The shoes look great. Very Wendy ;)
ReplyDeleteit could be my body! I think I could have sized down, which would have helped a bit, but I always struggle with the longer pencil skirts - just too much material for me!
DeleteAw, that is a real shame about that skirt. The print is so lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteI am going to email you back about the Boden shoes soon (hopefully later today) but I have a great recommendation for a good middle sewing machine if you are interested? I bought mine when I was starting out and still use it when I travel.
Oh good! I will be sending back the skirt tomorrow and have replaced with some jersey basics from Brynn Walker! I do love those Boden shoes!
DeleteAgree, the print is lovely and what a shame about the fit. Both of your new shoes are great and it's always nice to score a new favorite on sale!
ReplyDeleteThanks ABC. I was glad to try them both on in store as well. I am really having difficulty ordering shoes online anymore. I think my feet are getting bigger...
DeleteAre you sure you've got the right size in the skirt? That looks way too big all around. If you would like some extra butt or hip, just let me know, I have extra ;)
ReplyDeleteI could have gone down one and it would have fit in the waist, but I don't think it would have made a difference with the rest. There was excessive fabric when I sat down!
DeleteToo bad about the skirt, but on the plus side the shoes are fantastic, and you look absolutely lovely in that shade of green! I also really like your jeans a lot. How is the sizing? Did you order them online?
ReplyDeleteI bought them local. I think they come in xs/s/m/l/xl. I bought them in m, which is my typical size down bottom, especially in an elastic waist. You can roll them up or down and the coating makes them warm and pretty durable IMO.
DeleteThanks Wendy. I'm going to see if I can find them online. Do you know if they have a specific name?
DeleteThey are the Kai pants, Melissa. You cant take a closer look here:

That green shell looks amazing on you, I'm so happy to see it. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pattern on that skirt but wow it is ginormous on you. The shoes are perfect, you have a great eye for shoes.
I have too nice an eye for shoes....
DeleteThe print of the skirt is lovely,it reminds me of flamish paintings!
ReplyDeleteI just got the Harper flats too ( can you believe, that i actually bought flats, haha) and love the look with denim.I got the natural color.
I saw those Ina! They are very pretty! I may order them as well!
DeleteWendy, the Dutch floral with the green sweaters look fab! Can't they size it down to suit? Yes it does need major alterations as in lots taken in but wouldn't that be the same price of snipping off only a little as my barber charges the same whether a metrosexual gets a layered pageboy or GSL gets his trusty high & tight...or is this a metric system thing?
ReplyDeleteGSL - I snorted when I read your response! I think it would be a bit much! On the other hand, I am firmly of the opinion that it is a sign of something better around the corner. This is how I rationalize EVERYTHING! I cannot wait to meet you at the Lion's Den!
DeleteThe skirt is glorious but you have no hips and great gams that you need to show them lovely calves off! so yes I agree: TMM (too much material). Loving that cutie pie red shoes , they are making me smile and be happy.
ReplyDelete"Genius comfortable" is so...genius
I was going to say you have little hips...is that a thing/expression?
ReplyDeleteLittle hips = boy hips!
DeleteI have the *other* hips so maybe I should try that skirt? You look v. chic in those black jeans!
ReplyDeleteYou have "slender" hips and the skirt looks like a tent on you. Too wide, too long (don't cover those great legs!). Loving that green on you and those shoes are both "happy" looking. No fair complaining, I wear a 9-91/2. I started out an 8!
