(Hair) Style Wednesday

They, whoever "they" are, claim that a change is as good as a rest.

I tend to agree, but if I am honest, it is only because I have the attention span of a small hummingbird and so change is always welcome Chez Wendy.

I have been mulling over a haircut for several months now and took the plunge yesterday.

My inspiration?

Ines and her daughter Nine, because I find in life it is always a great idea to compare oneself to a cultural icon of fashion and her equally fashionable daughter.

Ah, but never mind, I have broad shoulders (I actually do!) so threw caution to the wind:

I still need to grow out some layers on top, but we are getting there.  My wonderful artiste, Sue, made the front longer and the back shorter to give it more interest and more bounce.

Then I threw on the wellies and went to coffee with my good friend Ger!

It was a shock in the shower when I didn't have all that hair to wash!  My hair is very fine, but there is actually quite a lot of it and it still took well over an hour to an hour and a half to dry naturally.

This will be a fun cut for awhile and I look forward to the layers growing out and being mistaken for Ines' sister...

Have a happy Wednesday and stay safe out there!

xoxo Wendy

  1. Rally suits you! It frames your face and make you look younger not that it is necessarily the aim mind you! But it is fresh for sure. I would love to cut a bob but my hair then just out all angles and I don't style my hair. But I feel you may get a further zest thanks to the cut :)

    1. You are safe anon - a balled-up Kleenex! I put it in the garbage right after I saw this photo!

  8. Ah, HAIR! Paula and I can talk about hairstyles simply for ever! My wonderful hair stylist has retired and I'm at a loss without her so now I'm growing my short cut out. (Quite what into I don't yet know.) Despair even got me to put it in some rollers, something I haven't done since the '50's - the result gave my elder daughter a bit of a fright.
Your hair looks shiny bouncy - very nice!

    1. Thanks! You know, sometimes I look wistfully at the rollers in the cupboard. My hair is naturally curly, but I do love a roller!

  9. I love the opera-length necklace with your outfit, it's very pretty. You are ready for summer with your new cut and ready for the spring thaw in your splashy green wellies. I had my hair short once and I loved it but husband likes it long, which means I wear it up 75% of the time.

    1. xoxo - I do think that a lot of men like longer hair (mine included), but I was ready for a change!

  10. Very pretty! My hair is fine too; my Crystal gives my something called Bamboo Oil to heft it ( not an oil, I don;t think). Fun to have a change!

  12. Hi Wendy, your new hair style is lovely, very chic! I also got my hair cut recently - my inspiration photo was of Princess Charlene of Monaco! My hair isn't quite as short, but I may go shorter next time.

By the way, I bought the Nars tinted moisturizer and concealer and like them very much, so thanks for the recommendation!

  13. This length looks great on you. I love it! And can we talk about your outfit? It's so perfect. Where did you get that lace skirt? And is that a JCrew vneck?

    1. Well thanks for not asking is the lone balled-up Kleenex was a sanitary product, like anon above! Sheesh!

The vneck I bought a few months ago - is the lightweight merino in beechwood, which will be wonderful till the end of May I should think! The lace skirt, is cotton - and wait for it - Joe Fresh! I saw it at the supermarket weeks ago and paid $40 for it. I've seen similar one's downtown nowhere near as nice! Go figure!!!!

Thanks for the kind words on the haircut!

  16. You and your hair look fantastic. It is impossible to tell that you are growing out layers. It is a blessing to have such good hair. My thin, fine and straight hair require a daily regime of mousses and hot rollers just to be presentable. It would be such a treat to wash and go and also save so much suitcase space when packing! Will you keep any bangs?

    1. Thanks teacups! I will likely keep a longer bang, but we'll see. I still seem to take a lot of hair stuff with me!

    1. Tabs - at this point in the spring, I am willing to have cold feet if it means no winter boots! But actually, was contemplating getting a pair of the liner socks for them!

  20. It's lovely Wendy! I like it a bit shorter, it does look quite Ines like. I'd love shorter hair, but mine just goes triangular, wavy and generally does not look good! xx

    1. Hi Heidi - thanks so much! My hair looks horrid first thing every day - stands straight up at all angle! But my hairdresser really does understand curly hair and she has made a big difference in my life! I'd had longer for the past decade so I thought I would try this. I may go long again in my sixties - I have an obsession with long silver hair!
